Any tips on fixing bleeding tail tip?

I hate to dock the tip off. Never seen one bleed so bad. He slings blood all over you. Any suggestions?

I had one the same way, but the guy I got her from had slammed the tip of her tail in the dog box door and made her ride that way because she would "get in the box and leave her tail out"(he was a grade a moron). We put neosporin on her tail THICK and then eventually tried blue kote. Blue kote helps it heal faster, but if they bump anything it can still bust open if it's not healed enough.

Best way I have found

Go to the drug store and buy a product called new skin. Get a razor or hair clipper and clip or shave the hair close to the skin around where it is bleeding. Clean real good with alcohol and then apply 2 or 3 coats of the new skin. This will stop the bleeding and help it heal. Repeat when or if needed!!Works for me!!

I had one that was that way. It never had hair on it for about the last 4 or 5 inches. It finally turned gray and scaly. It would bleed eveytime I took him hunting. I tried TUFF FOOT. Don't know that it helped, but it sure didn't hurt. LOL Made me feel better anyway!

TAIL

You might try Dipping or spraying the tail with HydrogenProxide. That would help boil out any infection or bateria. Then do like your doing with the Neosporin. I Keep a small spray bottle at the kennel for cleansing wounds. Have you ever tried Vetericyn (for Bacteria & Infection)? Tractor Supply or Farmer Supply will carry it. It's a clear liquid. They make one for wounds, eyes, ears etc. Jeffers also carries it. We also us Providine-Iodine to clean up wounds. Good Luck.

Re: Any tips on fixing bleeding tail tip?

Mr Dirty Rat, I had the same problem last year with my red tick , his tail stayed bloody and his body stayed covered in blood. I posted on here and one man told me about some stuff called tuf- foot. It's used to toughen the pad on a dogs foot. It worked over night. He busted it a couple times after so I just kept applying it for several days till it completly stopped. Have not had this problem again.
