Check your map card and make sure it is seated properly and hasn't come loose.

Figured it was worth a shot. A local guy here has had that happen to him three or four times while hunting. He will bring it buy and I take the map card out and re seat it and it starts showing his map again.

The only other thing I would know to check is the map detail. It can be turned down through the map setup to the point that it hardly shows any detail at all other than major roads and rivers. Not sure on the exact buttons to press to change it as I have gone to the Alpha and no longer have an Astro to play with at the moment.

go to the map selection pg and see if you have the topo map disabled.
since i got the birds eye on mine i disabled the topo. no need for it. by going to the map selection pg it takes only a second to enable or disable any map on it, topo, birds eye or what ever.

every garmin i have had i had to put a piece of coffee cup styrofoam on top of the topo card door and under the battery to hold the card in tight and make it stay connected right.

What makes it go back out to 3 miles on its own when I have it zoomed in to say 125 yrds. I am really sick of this.
