If someone is missing a dog they might want to read here and see if they can get more info.

I am pasting the comments below from Treeing Walker Coonhound Lovers page on Facebook. I will probably be kicked off thier site soon since I voiced my opinion on the false statements posted.
There are some real idiots on this site making posting dogs with numbers painted on sides are used as target practice an you get the points.

A rescue recently took in a dog with 44 "painted" on both sides - anyone have experience in removing this paint??

Ingrid Bock I would probably just let it grow out, if it's actually paint, since any chemicals you'd need might just add insult to injury. Even if it's water soluble paint, hounds (IMO) don't need bathing unless they really get into something, so why put the dog through it?

Katy Johnson Someone I follow on Instagram said that her hounds always have numbers on them for hunting trials. Which to me would mean they have to get them off before the next trial so I'll ask.

Genel Les Please please read this. The numbers on hounds are not for a killing game. I repeat NOT. These numbers are for hunting trials. Meaning the dog hunting another animal in a competition. Do not spread this rumor further. Please.

Megan Hammond Am I reading that they were dumped by a hunt club.....or did you mean in the vicinity of the hunt club? If it was by the hunt club itself that disposed of these hounds, one call to the Game Warden should be a sufficient means of reporting them. JoLynn, I left a comment in the Urban Coonhound thread if you were still looking for a way to remove the numbers.

sorry if post was confusing. These idiots posted on the facebook page that hunters paint numbers on dogs, turn them loose and shoot them for points. They claimed on one post that the club dumped them, than somewhere else claim they dumped them in box left for dead. Several people tried to tell them that they were fox hounds and dogs are picked up that quit the race during field trials and place in a box til its over. Than the owners go to boxes to retrieve dogs. I assume that these people attended event waited til everyone was at the field trial and took dogs but make the claims they do to make excuses as to why they now have dogs.

They deleted all post admiting that they took 6 dogs out of box at field trials, that dogs were emaciated and left there to die by club. They also admitted they had to keep it hush hush or there would be hell to pay if club finds out they have the dogs. They also admitted a dog was taken from event last year near dillion SC at event.
One girl admitted that if she drives by your house and dogs tied out on chain an she don't like condition she helps her self to your dog.

Maybe some of the dogs that disappear from hound events are these people who feel they need rescueing.

Now are them idiots above saying coon hound feild trials where the dogs run the scent and tree the hide are a sport where we shoot the dogs and whatever number is on the dog is how much points we win if thats what there talkinging about **** them (sorry ukc administrators) theres no way in hell no one who hunts coon is gonna take there coon dog to a feild trial and shoot at it and if any one trys stealing my very loved hounds will get a shot gun shell in there ass. ( sory for my foul language administraters but people shouldnt spread rumors like that

Thats sad the government doont lisen to us. Us hound hunters go uot and try to have fun and some people out there are always wanting to stop us dont matter if they lie or spread rumor what ever benifits there half i guess. . There was a guy who lived by my freinds house where id run my dogs on coon the dogs never run on to his property (probally cause he had about a 7 foot high fence around his land but any way im out huntin about 3 in the morning he comes flying down the road and hes like what do got going on down hear im like what do you mean hes like you know what im talking about them darn coon dogs are runing off my deer. Iml then reply i told you just the other day my hounds run coon not deer and any how you have a fence around your land that a deer isint gonna get out of and a bait pile that a show horse couldnt jump over. Then hes like well i dont want you hunting around here no more thats when i bit my lip and waked to the other part of my buddys woods and turn the dogs loose
