if you want to make it stowable you can use a large piano type hinge on the base and attach to the wall of your work area - makes it foldable.. you will have to have a drop leg under the beam also

Helped make a few out of old saw mill slabs ,Just debark them ,,if you look you will probably find one with the right taper and most likely will be free !
