Garmin...

So my DC40 collar turned a year old and the battery failed in it. No big deal, bought a Gamin Repl. battery. Installed it,went to put the 6 screws to seal the housing back up. Relized I had marred up the heads, of the screws, pretty bad. So I went to a couple of hardware stores in search of these tiny fine threaded screws. No luck.

Called Garmin this morning a Lady awnsered and was very polite. She told me that I could not just purchase the screws. I would have to send the unit in and have them install the screws. For a flat fee of $89 of course. I told her this was Not Acceptable and Thank You.

So im not the first person to have this problem im sure. Anybody know where to get this Hardware at? So I pretty much have a Junk Collar without these minute screws.

Kinda hurts a man that has never had anything but positive words to say about Garmin. Do they not have any faith in their customers to repair their own products?

Flame on!!!!

Might try looking at some online hardware places. Those screws have to be available somewhere or Garmin could not have purchased them.

May try contacting Garmin again and see if they can give you the size and go from there.

I'm sure Bruce Conkey can help you out. Almost guarantee he has them.

Most things built anymore contain parts built by the lowest bidder and are assembled by the same. Lets face it though, there are tons of people out there that buy something, accidentally wreck it and then say the product was faulty. I worked at a farm supply store way back when I was in high school, and I heard every story, song, and dance you can think up. When people like Garmin stand behind their products with warranties, they are smart enough not to trust people with their own repairs because there is a good chance it will get done wrong.

I'm not saying that you would have screwed it up, but believe me there are people that could, and I think Garmin knows that.

Very true. We live in a society today were most people will buy a new 1000$ TV rather than replace 2$ resistor when it goes bad. Heating elements go out in dryers and instead of spending 20$ on a new element and spending thirty minutes putting it in most people just scrap them and buy a new one.

But I second the notion of Bruce having the screws and if he doesn't Kevin Rainwater will have them.
