Here we go. Why do you have to have a fight. Why not just shoot the coon dead and save yourself a vet bill now and then? Yes depending on the strain you can coon hunt with feist. I am pretty sure Carl Smith has been doing it for years.

Had a feist and that dude preferred hunting coon to squirrel. Nice little dog I just had so many coyotes I let him go before they ate him. He did not mind the fight but as stated kill the coon dead they can get it done but save the vet bill. He caught one ended up in the water and both the coon and him about drowned. He had a lot of Barger in him.

50-200 yards or better. He would range out there that was why it was such an issue. He came back on a full run with coyotes chasing him more than a few times.

I coonhunt with mine and let them kill the coon. Never had a vet bill yet. If you have to shoot the coon out dead, you may be hunting the wrong line of dogs, feist's or not. If they are feist's, you may need to find some grittier ones.

If you let the dog kill the coon and you tell it on the .net you may ought to let the dog type. They most likely are smarter than you.

We have feist that are the real deal at night. Gunny accounted for over 200 coon this year. He's about 28-29 lb of flat get gone and get treed, hunts with no boundaries- you'll take him off a tree. I wish to God he had LESS grit- he's been opened up from end to end by coon he's caught on the ground- his brother, Dude, was drowned in a pond by a coon.Above post is right on the head- anybody that voluntarily puts their dog in harms way with hot coons is begging for trouble- nothing good can come of it.

Nah, they can't read. I'm a firm believer that a dog shouldn't tree more than it can handle. Perhaps you should stick with chipmunks. If it looks particularly mean, you can still shoot it out dead, or take a long a plott for a kill dog. LOL

I am pretty sure you gave details of how you removed tails with a butcher knife or an axe on mature dogs on here also. That pretty well speaks for itself.

BTW
You wanna meet somewhere like LBL around the first of Dec and say make a little wager $10 a critter day and night on whose dog can put up the most game? I believe my soft mutts can hold their own.

Feist

Don't want to step on toes but up here in Central Ohio we have a fellow that hunts feists and he takes quite a few coon each year with his. Several years ago I got a female pup out of his male feist and a crossed cur female, anyway this pup grew into one of the most coon hating/killing machines that I have seen. She takes them on no matter what their size and I have seen her kill big ones that my Big Rough Blue dogs couldn't put down. Don't question the ability of that little feist as you could lose a lot of money JMO

If you aren't there I'll get it on video. There will be plenty of people there. We are going to make sure it is on the up and up. I don't want muddyhound to cry foul when he gets his butt handed to him. That is if he shows up.

Nope, I have never docked puppy tails with an axe or butcher knife. I have a pair of clips I use, when the pups are less than a week old, then cauterize the tails. Thats just your senility kicking in.

Putting up the game is only half the battle. When the game comes down, I sure would hate to see them dogs of yours running from the fight. lol

I'll just bet you my truck there aint a Plott dog or any other gonna kill a bear or Mt lion they tree. That's one of the most senseless posts I ever read. Dog gets treed his job is done, period. You must never have been able to whip anybody in your life and make up for it packing dogs around to do it for you- ridiculous.

Yep, you get a feist with some grit to it, and they are tough little cusses.

You must read like your dogs. I said mature dog. And yep you said it. Of course it was probably like most stuff you say, not worth its weight in wet powder because you were trying to laugh it off talking about the dog squirming around and hollering and bleeding quite a bit. But you said it lived.

You won't see any of mine running from the fight, in fact if you show up here the only thing running will be you you if I am not here and Jake is out and that is a fact if you get out of the vehicle. That would be the only critter I would enjoy seeing him take his time on.

Nope, don't think it was me. Probably just like most stuff you say. Only in your head. If your dogs so mean I can't even get out of my truck, don't think I would trust hunting with it. I prefer a good tempered dog. Yours sounds like he has your temper. LOL

He gets along fine with other dogs just strangers at the house he don't like. Besides you was the one that said my dog were sissies, come get you some big boy.

See you at LBL, bring your best combo dog and a pocket full of cash. I don't take checks. Thats what 3 mos you should have time to sell 3-4 litters you should have plenty of money the way you peddle pups.

Odd that you would have to shoot a coon out dead to a dog that could take a person down. Some dogs are just more aggressive towards people I guess. I'd still be afraid of getting bit by him when I was getting my dog off the tree though. I suppose I could wear leather chaps or something. I know they make snake proof ones, wonder if they make dog proof ones? LOL Not sure how you mean I peddle pups. I do sell a few, and give a few away to people. I guess thats what pup peddling means.
