How many pick the runt

I have a litter of pups and the runt is a lot smaller . I have never picked the runt but like this one. Just wondering who likes to keep the runt and why.

Good thing you like the runt. Everytime I raise a litter I get stuck with the runt. LOL

Our runt died...my pup was the biggun lol....by 10 days he was nearly double the size of the rest...he had the most color...thats why i picked him....and figured he was smart enough to eat well he aughta have some brains....he does...and he never got as big as his brother...thankfully...his brother is a good sized dog...taller too...

Never much tellin in what a dog will turn into....like i said, i picked based on color lol....color is just color..but i like havin a good lookin dog on the end of my leash!

We have kept the runt a few different times, they have made coondogs too. When i've kept a runt it was just b/c i liked that praticlar pup best. Really don't think it matters wether they were a runt or what they still either make it or they dont, and usually as far as size they'll normally catch up when they're fully grown.

Can't really think of a reason to keep the runt but can think of a lot of reasons not to. If it is going to be a working dog that is. If it is just going to be a lap dog it wouldn't make me any differance but I am not one to feed a lap dog.

That ain't a runt. A runt is a runt and always will be a runt. That type of runt is what we are talking about.

The runt,

I have a litter of Walker pups now.
There is a runt in the litter, he is the most alert, doesn't care what the rest are doing, looks you right in the eye,not a shy bone in his little body, don't take nothin off the rest of em,has "smart" eyes, and they are black, good lookin little feller, slowest eater of all of em...
I think he is "the one".....

I know a man who always takes the runt / ugliest, etc. that nobody wants, and they usually turn out to be the best of the litter. I think perhaps it is because they start off early having to work for what they get rather than bully their way around at the top. Kinda' like humans huh?

i have a 3 year old runt male red bone just got him finished and i would never get rid of him he hunts hard and has one hell of a mouth on him and is really good with pups. I was kinda weary about buying him but his sire and dam are both grand night champions i couldnt pass that up and im sure glad i got him now. the only draw back is he is wired all the, he doesnt just jump on the tree he runs up it turns around and runs back down

Should have worded the poll differently... Should have said who picks the pup that may well have physical and mental problems brought on by a lack of nourishment inutero or a physical deformity that has prevented it from maturing normally, and that statistically speaking it is more likely to have physical issues later in life than the other healthy pups in the litter.
YEAAAH thats the one i want.
