Raising pups

Ive raised several litters of pups with some success but Im always looking for improvement. This is just some stuff I do.I use purina puppy chow with goat milk replacer but they seem to choose regular dog food over the puppy food.Ive got a good insulated dog house with rails in it to keep her from laying on them.As soon as my pups can run loose I let them.I walk mine in the woods behind the house alot making them cross ditches and creeks.Just wondering how others raise pups.

Pretty much the same. We worm the female before she has pups and follow up on the pups at recommended intervals. Then of course we start their shots with 5-way until they are 12 weeks then we start the 7-ways. We don't place pups in their new homes until after their 49th day.

There is one thing that I do that I really believe helps set the pups on who is boss and minding. I feed the puppies in a round S.S. donut shaped puppy dish. I stand there, and I don't let the puppies stand in the dish or show any aggression. If a puppy does either, I reach down and grab it by the scruff of the neck between my fore finger and thumb. I then pick it up, but just slightly and give a little shake and I say a stern" No". The puppies really seem to learn what the word no means much more quickly.
