Must tree a coon in tree and seen by judge. Catch coon, doesn't count. Tree coon anyplace except a tree (hole, etc) even if seen, doesn't count. The 8 min rule and 2 min on tree same rule as nite hunt. 1 hr time limit unless dog is trailing at end of one hour handler has option to use another 15 min. (used if no coon treed in hour, but must be trailing). Dog not hunting, slick tree , coming in after struck. Leaving tree after called treed, off game, dogs must open on track, unless a cur dog. There are different rules for curs, but I'm not familiar with them. Handler argueing or poor sportmanship will get you a fail too, hasn't happened in a hunt I been at. You get 2 faults and you are done.
In one hunt my dog got into a big cattail slough and ran time out. Not sure if you are familar with a what we call a cattail slough, but I can assure you with only one dog working a coon can run circles around it all night long.
We usually have between 33 and 50% pass. Last night a NT CH needing 1 more win for Grand had 2 den trees in the hour he failed. Most fails are not seeing a coon in the 1 hr time limit around here. Dog doesn't have any faults but didn't see a coon. I really like the HTX tests more like a buddy hunt.
