performance points

What's the biggest check you have collected off performance points for the year?

How many would buy a pup or any dog that isn't payed up performance?

Is it paying off like you thought.

I'm trying to decide whether to pay this pup up or not.

I'm looking how it would effect the sale of a hound. Three hundred for a year doesn't sound like it would make much difference but thanks for the input.

Nobody else out there is collecting anything? . Not looking like it matters if they are permantly nominated or not from the responses. Guess I'll not worry about doing it.

If you go to any hunts at all its absolutely foolish not to pay up a dog. At your average local hunt you average 10-15 registered dogs. So you pay 15-20 dollar to win 100-150. You can't beat that no matter how you slice it.

I get 600 average from nothing to Grand.

Performance

I got paid for one Nt CH. Deg. on my female less than 200.00 but don't remember what it was for sure . So if she has a couple pups that do real well wouldn't she get a pay back for all her off spring winning any big hunts ? I know the stud dogs get pay backs too. Pay them up young its cheaper too.

80% to owner, 10% to breeder and 10% to stud owner at time of breeding.

Thanks guys, been helpful. I don't hunt enough hunts for it to pay but was considering the resale attraction. I don't see how your winning 100-150 for a 10-15 dog entry hunt. Maybe your math is better than mine.

If I had an idea where you are from or where you compete, I could give a better estimate but lets just say your local clubs don't draw real well and your dog can scrape out an occasional cast win in the reg. hunt. You enter a local hunt, register class, draw out with 7 other dogs and and luck your way into a 2nd place. That gives your dog .4 Performance Points. At the usual $100 per point that is where it has been ending the year, that is $40 for your 2nd place against 7 other dogs. That covers the cost of lifetime nomination to the program and probably your entry fee or most of it. Just for squeezing out a cheap cast win with your basic chiteater. Get it?

Now if you got a GOOD dog and your local clubs draw 20 dogs to a hunt, well......it just gets better.

As for the math, the program has been ending the year at around $100 per point and will probably continue to. At $100 per point, a 10 dog 1st place pays $100, the same 1st place with 15 dogs pays $150. That's the math, yours or mine.

i believe not being payed up would have an effect on resale if the dog was bought by a comp hunter, the price to pay them up goes up and after 2 years old they cannot be paid up. i guess here would be the question, if you have 2 dogs of equall ability one not paid performance and ss, the other is paid up, which one sells for more?

You better get back to school for math if there is over 20 dogs you get 2 points that is the max you can get in one hunt but you. Can earn over te life of the dog for a 25$ investment it's worth that for a selling point! Personally I won't have one that's.not and I don't gO to tha many hunts but I have gotten some.nice checks in the spring just for going tO a hunt that I was goin to anyway! If you can train a nice dog it's a no brainer if you got a cull well you got a cull!!!!!

So your telling me that with 15 dogs entered in your division you can earn up to $150 at a local hunt?

If this is the case why are the local hunts only drawing 15-20 dogs? Something isn't adding up here.

if you get a first place win, for every 20 dogs you beat you get one point up to a maximum of 2 points at a hunt. for second, third and forth you get points but the points go down.i believe the point value is around $120.

Jim I live in south western Ohio and the hunts I see around here aren't drawing but 10 or 15 dogs a hunt. With this much money available to be won , why are the entries so low. This doesn't make any sense for the entry numbers. It does seem to make sense why the scores are much lower than years gone by. One hunt I was just visiting had no plus points out of 4 casts and another had 75 plus first place win and the other two casts never had plus points. Guess you'll be seeing me at UKC hunts more often. I'll take the money if nobody else wants it. So how does that work for Nt Ch and Gr nt casts, they get screwed because there are fewer entries? If so why would you want to finish one Nt Ch ?

If 4 dogs are entered then the winner gets .4 point or $40. If 5 Nt Ch dogs are entered then the winner gets .5 points or $50. It is only an added bonus and is not the sole reason to go to a hunt. Why did anyone go to a hunt before the Performance Program. Being Performance eligible is a BIG selling point for pups. If you have 2 young dogs of equal ability, then the one that is Performance Paid up will sell quicker. Twenty-five dollars to pay up a pup is well worth the money however you do the math.

Richard I haven't hunted UKC in 20 yrs, this is the incentive I need to start hunting them again, I just can't figure why more dogs aren't showing up. At these gas prices and such at least it'll pay for gas and a little feed. Not too hard to win a cast.

That's the easy part. If you want to do it big, only hunt your dog in the big hunts, or somewhere where you can guarantee a 2pt maximum for 1st place. There aren't as many dogs at local hunts bc not every dog is performanced and not everyone has the same incentive as you and I may have.

That's the easy part. If you want to do it big, only hunt your dog in the big hunts, or somewhere where you can guarantee a 2pt maximum for 1st place. There aren't as many dogs at local hunts bc not every dog is performanced and not everyone has the same incentive as you and I may have.

how many places do they award points at a large hunt? Looks like I'll be starting more pups.

you are correct.... actually a ukc hunt around here pays better than a 25 dollar pkc hunt

Personally I won't have one that's.not and I don't gO to tha many hunts but I have gotten some.nice checks in the spring just for going tO a hunt that I was goin to anyway! If you can train a nice dog it's a no brainer if you got a cull well you got a cull!!!!!

looks like it takes 20 dogs to earn two point max?

mini slams, rqe's, youth hunts and the world hunt do not pay performance points.... easy way to keep up with it is if all dogs hunt together it doesnt pay performance points
