We hunt on a lake that has several islands on it that we can hunt. One of them has these hornets on it. They chase us on the water following the boat lights. We call it bee island. Only when its cold enough to see your breathe will we cut them loose there. Until then we just ride by shining the trees and looking at the little coon eyes shining down at us.

I got hit by a hornet at a hunt couple weeks ago. Bout knocked my hand off my wrist. I saw coming a long ways off and by the time I really had time to react it stung me. It burned like crazy, turns out it was a Japanese hornet. I saw the size of it, wing span and body was bigger than a silver dollar. The color was like a burnt orange but more yellow. It may have been a European hornet, I don't know but I know it hurt.

european hornets

They are more likely european hornets. They build nests in hollow trees and are active day and night. They are attracted to the light. Usually 200-400 live in a colony. There alot worse than the regular bald-faced hornets because they are active at night.

Hornets

Got them here in indiana, never seen them here until this year, they are bigger than a regular hornet. they everywhere big as a sparrow. I figured out if they coming around you at night if you shut your lite off they will shut down immediately and hit the ground,or water I have killed a pile like that.

I hope they go away
