the bad is unlike the garmin, it does not offer a map card. I don t understand the point of a gps if you can t see where you are. Also, im not sure, maybe someone else can clarify, but i do not think you can mark your location.

The good is its sport dog, and there customer service is second to none.

The training receiver is removable from the tracking device.

i would own one if it had a map card, and according to the sport dog forum, they are working on a tek 2.0, so maybe they will offer one on the new unit. Till then, its garmin!

IMO they are serious junk. I have a buddy that bought one and he can barely give it away. Wouldn't recommend one, but hey , whatever ya prefer

I have said it many times on these boards, but I will say it again. When the Tek 1 first came out, everyone on these boards bragged about how they pre-ordered one because they hate Garmin. For some reason you never hear any of those same guys bragging about how great they are. Is Garmin perfect? No, but it is the best there is right now. If you have any uncommon sense, then they are a great tool, easy to use, and I believe they have pretty good customer service. I have had to send in a couple of collars and every time I got a replacement back within the same week I sent it off.

i have one and the only draw back is the map card. you can mark your spot, truck etc. lets you know if your dog is treed also. rarely looses signal and range is awesome. yes the garmin has it beat with the map card and birds eye view. but far as a tracking system it works great. if they ever make a map card avalible they would be very hard to beat. training system is completly removable
