Pride Dogfood

My husband & I both feed it and have had great results with it. My dogs stay fat and have a healthy coat year round and don't require as much as they do with other brands we have tried. My husband hunts his dogs & I show mine and couldn't be happier with it.

Pride

No overheating issues and great muscle tone. We use the black bag 24/20 and around here a 50lb bag cost $17.65.

Very good feed We just started getting it in Ark and we are very pleased with the results. 26/18 green bag = great feed , great cleanup , great price. 26/20 pro series well pleased with it also don't think you can hunt a dog here in the south hard enough this time of year to get full benefit of this feed. Can't wait until winter to see just how good it really is. Feeding 2 cups a day to 60 pound dogs and hunting three nights a week and they are gaining weight

i feed the white bag its 22/10 i think, 2 cups a day to all dogs and they love it. My female seems to get hot sometimes while hunting but not near as hot as she did on other dog foods. I have noticed that she chews on the tree alot less after switching to pride, and for $18-19 a 50lb bag ill keep buying it as long as they stock it

same here. i think its pretty good food for the price but it has a lot of grain. i fed it for 5 or 6 years until the start of this summer. now i feel the quality droped again in order to try and keep price low. im feeding the diamond naturals now and two 40# bags of it last longer than two 50# bags of pride.

Diamond feed would be alright if they were not having a recall on their feed about once a monh. I wouldnt dare feed any kind of Diamond now. I use to feed it before all the recalls. They have some problems now.

used pride... dogs could not take it when I was hunting them hard. looked terrible. Fed black Gold for awhile and the feed kept changing on us! I feed victor to my old dogs and plantation for my young pups. They do great! It is a little higher than the others but so much better.

We have been using the Pro-Series lime green bag for our deer dogs for a couple years now with good results. Dogs seem to run pretty well on it, and you know with a deer dog I'm really getting to see one "run" for an extended period of time.

I recently started feeding some of my coonhounds the Pro-Series orange bag after the recalls Diamond had. They seem to be doing fine on it so far, but a couple of mine won't eat it that well. I still use Extreme Athlete on the dogs that I bring with me to condition for shows/hunting during the week. Like someone else noted, their stools do seem to have more of a smell than they do on the EA, but haven't had much of an issue with it being loose or excessive.

Pride

I have recently swicthed to Pride pro series in the lime green bag. May dogs did have a loose dark stool for about 2 weeks though not excessive however it was got much better. There is a bit more oder I would imagine because of the chicken meal. Clean up has been reduced over the corn meal based feed i was feeding. A couple of times in the last two weeks they have run a black and fuzzy all night long and still had some hunt left when i caught em the next morning. They are hunted 2 to 3 nights a week in the heat and have been full of energy. I am also feeding the puppy food to a 6 month and a 11 month old pup that are both slick and look great! I feed about 3 and a half cups to the grown dogs which are around 75 lbs. And the pups get about 2 for the 6 month old and 2.5 for the 11 month old. I am paying about 2 dollars less then I was for the corn based feed and getting I would estimate 15 percent more feedings from a 50 pd bag. The Moonshine Hunting Hounds seem to like it and based on what I have seen so far I do too!

Been feeding Pride for at least 20 years. But like any feed company they offer several different types so you may get different responses based on what blend of Pride and individual has tried. I've tried them all. I generally feed 24-20 Black bag in the dead of winter due to it having more corn in it. I feed the 26-18 dark green bag to the puppies up to 9 months old and have raised several litters of slick healthy puppies with it. Was feeding the 21-17 Pro Series lime green bag in the summer to keep the dogs running cooler and would be my preference if I was hunting a dog hard in the summer. It has Chicken, Brewer's Rice, and corn as the first 3 ingredients if memory serves me correctly. The farther down the list of ingredients the corn is, the cooler the dogs run in the summer is my experience. Recently I noticed that the 22-12 Purple bag had changed ingredients a little and I switched to it due to price and feeding several dogs. The Purple bag is about $3 less a bag than the Lime Green. It's first the ingredients are Meat, Corn, and Brewer's rice. However, I may switch back to the Lime Green during July and August. I would stay away from the white 21-10 and the 22-16 because you will feed twice as much food. I don't think the Pro Series 27-20 is any better than the 26-18 for the money difference. IMO the other 26 % protein in the Blue bag doesn't have as good of ingredients as the 26-18 Dark green bag. Just my opinions from several years of comparison. You have to figure your budget, amount of dogs, how hard you are hunting and time of year to make your best decision. good luck.

I just switched to the black bag 20/24 pride and they seem to like it just fine was feeding the lime green bag chic n rice but it jumped way up in price recently it's about 26 a bag so I went to the black bag for 19 a bag and they seem to eat it better . I've feed different blends of pride over the years and haven't seen a bad on yet really . I've switched to other brands but always come back to pride .

I feed the 26-20 Pro Series in the orange bag and it has been doing a good job for me. I fed the 24-20 black bag and the 26-18 dark grren bag but I had problems with a few of my dogs overheating. I haven't seen that with the Pro Series.

thanks for all the info. i am feeding 2 coon hounds and 3 beagles. i currently have them on prism 21/10 food which has very similar ingredients to the pride dog food. i really like what prism does to the dogs but it keeps jumping up in price and just wanted some feed back before i try and have a feed mill order some in.

We fed pride for years to our hounds and beagles. Excellent feed and if we could get it here in sylva again we would feed it again no questions asked.
