Q & A
“I heard about this last weekend, at a hunt. Still being new to Wisconsin, I hadn't even heard about these hearings. So I still have a couple questions:
Is the hearing basically a motion for the legislature to vote on a ruling??? I'm assuming that these hearings, aren't establishing law, but providing direction or desire to law makers.”
not to legislators per say but to the DNR Board as advisory to make rule changes, legislators do look at the numbers when it takes a law change, DNR board makes rule changes that implement laws.
“And out of curiosity... the hearing you attended and/or others you heard about, was the argumnet against hunting with dogs, mostly supported by anti-hunters, land owners in general, or other sportsman?”
sometimes all 3... take coon hunting during deer season rule, deer hunters vote every time to keep us out of the timber during "their deer season" and the antis jump on, some land owners jump on because of trespass problems. on the other hand farmers want us to hunt all year long.
The 1st post has a list of resolutions that were submitted at county’s listed, everyone has a right to submit a “resolution for consideration at their county of residence. If a resolution passes in their county it goes to the conservation congress standing committee that deals with the subject. The author can show up( and anyone else) to speak to the resolution. The committee decides to fwd the resolution for consideration on next year’s spring hearings, as an “advisory question, voted on state wide.
My good friend “Two Toes” is President of the Wisc. Association of Sporting dog clubs, if the Assoc. wants to hold a meeting to train folks how and when to get involved, I’d be happy to be there to help in any way I can,( if anyone shows up)
