Tape Wormer????????

Hey guy's and gal's. Everyonce in a while I have to treat my hounds for Taper worms as any one does. I have a couple right now that I've noticed have a few. My vet gives me some type of pill but man it is very expensive. My question is...isn't there some type of horse wormer or something that will take care of tape worms along with others???? Thanks!

I've heard that sheep wormer works. You cant buy sheep wormer from feed stores around here anywhere but you used to could. No pun intended.

I use Drontal. Its a little more expensive, but works very well. Also have used Panacure with good results.

is right on the money! You can go to your local feed store and buy the Happy Jack pills by the bottle or by the pill. I bought a whole bottle a year ago, the expiration date will get them before I use them all. A bottle goes for around $35 dollars around here.

Zimetrin Gold or Equimax horse wormers. $9 to 12 bucks a tube. Just make sure it's the Gold. They say good for tape worms on the box. Give them a doob of it. Then again in a month. works great and you can do a hole kennel's worth of dogs with one tube.

Safeguard makes an excellent dog wormer that kills the 4 major types of worms that dogs typically get. Including tape worms. It cost $10.00 per dog and works very well.

There are several different types of Tape worms. The most common are the ones that fleas cause. The safeguard that Daves talking about didnt cover one of the tapes in one of my dogs BUT the Safeguard is a great wormer.
Tape worms are hard as heck to kill. The Drontal shot or the Droncit (sp) (two different types) works better than anything but you have to get it from the vet.

Bond007,
What dosage are you using on the Valbazin. I use 1ml per 10 pounds of body weight for 3 days. I do this once every 3 months. I still have to use praziquantrel (found in most tape wormers) every now and then for tapes.

have used Zimetrin Gold. it works after using it, i have had mine checked by the vet. they were worm free.
before that i was using ivomec and safeguard once a mth.

will take care of everything including preventing heart worms accorging to my vet.
