Where would you want the world hunt?

What if we had to have the world hunt in the same place every year? Which one of these places would you choose?

Indiana for sure. Central location

I would guess that IL. IN. OH. Iowa and Michigan have the most coon, most coon hunters, and most enjoyable coon hunting ( do to terrain and coon population ) than anywhere else in the USA.
I may be a little bias, since I live in IL. , but if you notice where they hold autumn oaks and alot of the other big hunts, Its says something, # of entries are better, which means more money.
I do enjoy getting out of the loop and going down South to the breed hunts, though. They move them around pretty good.
If you notice people will travel a long way to hunt up here, we get them from all parts of the US when we hold a big hunt. Its worth the drive, they say, to get out in all the coon, and get to hunt on flat ground.
If I remember correctly, they have moved the world hunt around in the south some, in the past.

I agree I say some where like Kentucy or TN and with no leaves. I'm a treein walker man myself but if they did it that way and we still won it all maybe that would stop some of the slick treein idiot talk.

FLORIDA FLORIDA FLORIDA

IT'S GOTTA COME TO FLORIDA, IT TAKES A REAL COONDOG TO TREE A COON DOWN HERE. AIN'T KNOWRUN TEN FEET AND TREE A HOT ONE, THEY GOTTA GET IN DEEP IN SOME THICK GATOR INFESTED SWAMP AND GRUBB UP A COLD TRACK, I WOULD BET ANYTHING IF IT WAS HELD DOWN HERE AN OFF COLORED DOG WOULD WIN. A HOT NOSE WALKER DOG WILL HALF TO WORK FOR IT DOWN HERE OR GET MINUSED. ONLY BAD SIDE TO IT IS HANDELERS WOULD HAVE TO BRING A CHAIN SAW TO CUT INTO THE TY TY'S TO GET TO THERE DOGS

Lee man, my brother hunted our dog in a semi final down there several years ago. Can't rember the name of the place right off but the first night he drew out and they was in some thick coons. They came in with a mind blowing score up around like 1400+. Then on the second night some kinda under handed stuff went on. My brother and 3 other cast winners from the first night drew out and went 50 miles away to a pine plantion. LOL. 4 cast winners and not a single strike in 2 hours Talk about a dry hole LOL. But we still made it to the big dance and the rest is history but from what I seen the huntin down there aint to bad as long as ya stay away from those pine plantations!!LOL

IT WAS PROBLY PERRY FLORIDA

THAT BIG SCORE WOULD HAVE COME OFF MR. SWAINS BUCKETS ON THE SAND HILL HUNT CLUB, I SAW A BLUE ENGLISH NAMED CADILAC CISSY SCORE LIKE 800 IN AN HOUR ON A PKC HUNT ONE NITE. I GUIDED BACK FROM THE WINTER CLASSIC TO MY HOUSE HERE IN CRAWFORDVILLE FL DURING THE WINTER CLASSIC AND SCORED 825 ON 4 COONS BIG SCORES ARE POSSIBLE DOWN HERE BUT THE DOG WILL HALF TO WORK A LITTLE HARDER TO GET IT.

Yeah Perry FL that was it. I don't know exactly where they went the first night but I do know they were hunting on buckets. I just couldn't belive the score he came in with. It was the highest score the dog ever got as he died about 2 or 3 years later and we had pretty much stoped comp huntin by then. I just thought it was pretty messed up how they did them on the second night. I mean my brother asked how far it was to some big timber and he said it was over 2 miles to any thing except pine trees. But I was impressed that 2 dogs includeing us got in the top 20 with one nights score. But hey guess thats the chance us poor country boys take tryin to play with the BIG BOYS! LOL

I'M NOT SURE WHAT PLANTATION THAT WOULD BE, ALL PINES DOSEN'T SOUND FAMILAIR THEY PROBLY NEEDED SOMES GUIDE AND GOT DEER HUNTERS TO GUIDE YOUR CASTS, THE PLANTATIONS CLOSE TO MY HOUSE ARE LOADED WITH COON EASY WALKIN AND PLENTY OF HARDWOODS AND CORNFEILDS, BUT MOST OF THESE PLANTATION'S ARE ALL ABOUT THE BIRDS SO THEY WANT US TO SHOOT EVERY COON WE SEE BUT WHAT THEY DON'T KNOW WON'T HURT EM' 1400 IS A BIG SCORE EVEN ON THOSE BUCKETS AND THE COONS USALLY RUN A LITTLE WAYS FROM THE BUCKETS AT SWAINS PLACE, YOUR DOG MUST HAVE BEEN TURNING IT ON FIRST ON BOTH SIDE'S TO PULL OFF THAT SCORE!!!!

Re: FLORIDA FLORIDA FLORIDA

>I WOULD BET ANYTHING IF IT WAS HELD DOWN HERE AN OFF COLORED DOG WOULD WIN.<
Maybe.. I've hunted down in Apalachicola a lot & it is rough. Most dogs that I brought down did poorly at first. Once they were there for a few weeks they did just as well as the local dogs. It wasn't color as far as I was concerned, just that they'd never seen terrain like that before. The local boys got a kick out of those yankee dogs running up and down the road trying to find an easy way through the brush. Eventually the dogs figure out that there is no easy way.
If they held the world hunt in Florida, I'd want to get the dog down there for a few weeks of training first.

>CRAWFORDVILLE<
BTW, my friend built a house down in Panacea. We started going down each year in late January. I haven't gone for a few years now, but he still goes every winter. I'm about due to make the trip with him again this year. Maybe we can do some hunting with you next tiem I'm down there.

Well I see where it is going to NC next year, and even though I lived and coon hunted nin NC for 20 years I just can't see it. Yes, I know we need to rotate the hunt, but when a person spends $85 for an entry fee, plus say $250 for gas for the trip there and back and a tank or 2 for hunting there, plus $200 for 4 nights of hotel fees and say $120 for eats that comes out to $655 bucks give or take a few bucks depending on how far you drive and how well you like to eat and for that kind of money I want to be where I have the best chance to tree coons, not 1 or 2 but as many as possible.

In the South you will have some folks hunting off of buckets, its a fact and it works about 80% of the time, others will be in some rough hunting that may only see 1 coon. Take that in and add the fact that you will be with the snakes (timber rattlers, cotton mouths, eastern diamond backs, and a few others) this will make some shy about hunting down there. All the years I was in the South I loved going North to get into the coon hunting we all hear about, and yep they got the coon hunting.

Fact is you still need a coon dog and not all coons up North are pop ups, and these coon love to run a dog to death in these 500 acre corn fields, so all you need is a coon dog and you can win be it North, South, East, or West. When I'm going to dump that kind of money into going to a hunt, I want to be where the coon are, not just a few cast but knowing that a large % of the guides are going to put me into coon. But, its just 1 (my) opinion.

Wow, NC looks like it's got some pretty nasty hill country.
Every year it's becoming more important to me that the land is flat where I hunt.

Unfortunately I don't have to worry about any world hunts for a year or two anyway. No dog power right now. Just a "has been" and a few of "gonna be's".

I was at Perry at the semis and don`t remember that kind of score. I thought it was like 575+ high score. I might be wrong, or it could have been at Albany,Ga.

>AND A MACHEDY<
I first saw a guy using one in Apalachicola.
After that I started using one up here along the Minnesota river in the summer.
Brush grows fast and gets thick in the floodplain.
July thru September I'll have to hack my way to the dogs at least a few times.
>GIVE ME A CALL IF YA COME DOWN<
OK thanks, I'll look you up if I make it this year.

The World hunt ought to be up here in New England during the winter when theres no leaves and lots of snow. The coon are thin and the junk is thick. Then we'd see who's got what on the end of their leash. Of coarse we'd have to teach most of you how to use snowshoes, lol.

Joe is correct....But.....

I could see where the home team could have an advantage in these mountains.

Especially if you have a dog that has never been hunted in the mountains.

It might be tougher on them to win, but, if they're coondogs they'll win anyways.

I think that you'll see, NC has it's ups and downs. They're called mountains!!

i live in nc and hunt in nc if you have a good dog and some place to hunt that has not ben hunted all the time you can tree coon but if you do not have some place to hunt that has not ben hunted all the time you will not tree all the time and no i do not hunt off feeders if my dog has to have a feeder to tree a coon it is not a coon dog to me if you like to hunt feeders go for it but not me and nc is not all hills if you wont to see hills go to wv i have lived there to and there is more coon in nc then wv back to the feeder thaing if you hunt off feeders all the time if you got to hunt off you feeders on a night hunt you will wen 85% of the time if your dog knows the feeders thay are going to go to them all the time so yes you will have some big ponts.
