Late saturday night Mae was killed in a conibear trap while doing what she loved and was bred to do. It was a good night to be hunting and a good night to say good bye to one of the best I have ever owned. Sadly I didnt get to breed Mae during the short time I owned her but I do have a full sister that may be able to step into her shoes. I had lots of compliments from people who hunted with her and for that I thank each and every one of you.

The last year and a half was very special to me. You made it that way by letting me own such a dog. Mae put the desire to hunt back in me and made each night one I will remember. I cant express my thanks but I think you know how I feel.

Mae made her Gr CH title while with Robert. I started her in the hunts this spring and she made me proud every night. She made Nt Ch with 3 first place wins and had an impressive win streak until she came in heat. Finishing fourth in the RQE in WI was her fourth Nt Ch win. Unfortunately she will never get that last win, but she deserved it. I laid her to rest on a drizzly sunda morning near her mother, grand mother, and great grand father in a little grove near where I used to live. I know she is in good company but that does very little to help the hurt I feel right now.

I could hardly believe it when Burkey told me that Larry Platner had called him with the bad news. Sorry to hear it, Marty. I know how much you enjoyed her this summer. I will be able to have the memory of being with you guys and seeing six coon above her before it happened. Never hunted with you or her but I know what she is out of and I had always assumed she was a good one. I figured I would probally get something out of her somewhere down the line. I hate you had to loose her so soon.

Well my freind, you know how I felt about "Prancing Princess" I sent her to the best home and to the hunter that would enjoy her the most, you are the one that bred Sammy and came up with the little sow. I'm sick for ya, but maybe we will be lucky enough to breed another one close to what she was. I still want to get Star up there when she comes in and see if we can get somthing worked out with Donnie on a live breeding on the Bock dog. I feel for ya keep your head up.

marty, sorry to hear about your loss, I know i ALWAYS enjoyed hunting with Mae. everytime we walked to her tree you could just about load the gun! and thats what a coon dog is and she was definatly a COONDOG. Hope you find another one as good as her.

I recieved this note from Asa Briggs from Michigan not long ago:

I am working with Asa to supply him with info, I was wondering if you were going to try to get compensated, did you check the trapping laws in Iowa? I also called and talked to John Wick he is writing a letter to the court to help Asa determine a value along with several other high profile English breeders and stud owners.

been over a month and I still miss the old hag. Reminded every morning when her bark isnt part of My alarm clock anymore. She always wanted fed at 6:30 am and would make sure I knew it.
