The Pride Dog Food

Has anyone tried the Pride Dog Food? They have a new food out that is 26/20 with 2.0% fiber. It is supposed to be on line with the other top dog foods, I was just wandering it any body has additional information about it.

I use to feed Pride. It is a very good dog feed. But It seemed where i was getting it. everytime I would go back to get it. The guy I was getting it from would go up 25 cents on a bag. So I started feeding Purina. But I would suggest Pride to anyone.

I've fed it and like it. Young walker, I think you're talking about the black bag. It's good feed and I like it. The white bag--"maintenance" is what's good for coon feed, it's pretty cheap and is similar to the Red/white bag of Joy.

I have been feeding the 26/20 for several months. I compared it to Pro Plan....about half the cost, more KCal per cup. It is great feed, and the dogs really like it!

ProPlan Performance-

Metabolizable Energy (ME): 493 Kcal/cup; 2,003 Kcal/lb.; 4,406 Kcal/kg

Ingredients:
Chicken, corn gluten meal, brewers rice, beef tallow preserved with mixed-tocopherols (source of Vitamin E), poultry by-product meal (natural source of glucosamine), whole grain corn, corn bran, fish meal, natural flavor, egg product, chicken cartilage (natural source of glucosamine), potassium chloride, dicalcium phosphate, salt, calcium carbonate, vitamin supplements (E, A, B-12, D-3), choline chloride, L-Lysine monohydrochloride, ascorbic acid (source of Vitamin C), zinc sulfate, ferrous sulfate, manganese sulfate, niacin, calcium pantothenate, thiamine mononitrate, copper sulfate, riboflavin supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, garlic oil, folic acid, calcium iodate, biotin, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of Vitamin K activity), sodium selenite.

Oakridge , how much does each piece of Pride swell when soaked ? How do your dog's stools look on it and how much do they pass compared to what they eat? how many Kcals/cup?

ProPlan swells very little if any when soaked and the dogs digest a great deal of it ... they don't pass much stool at all.

I talked to a dealer friend yesterday he said he is switching feed brands. he has gotten a bunch of bad batches of feed lately. he had a customer call and have him come get 10 bags back and refund their money. the feed had a rancid smell to it. he called pride and they had already had calls from other dealers about the feed. They said the there were to many minerals put in the feed. the machine was not working right.
