famous crosses
In the interest of trying to stamp out ignorance, based on the last reply to this post, I might suggest that there have been many incredible crosses in the history of coonhonds, and in all of the six recognized breeds. In the Walkers, there was the cross that produced Finley River Chief. (Shetler's Sonny Boy and Bixler's Supreme Sally). In recent years, the cross that produced Rock River Sackett Jr., probably a cross never to be equaled again. Tim Ball did well with the Harry and Abby crooses too. In the Blueticks, Dave Dean did well with some of those Hammer crosses. To those of a relatively scientific mind, or at least an understanding, it all boils down to the way the DNA links up. Coonhounds can only be what their DNA allows them to be, of course only with the right environmental tweakings (exposure to coons, training, hunting) to bring out that DNA.
