Yea she still has it guys just over her heat cycle and bred to a granson of Hammer X. on the top side and on the bottom close up as the blood of the original Hussler dog as you can get. Also on her bottom side is Solid Rock. The puppies will have the bloodline that should make some good dogs how many or if any time will tell. The sire of these puppies was hunted in the hills of Laurel County Kentucky he had no dog to follow to be trained and was trained alone from the start and by his natural ability he became a straight true cooner with no non sense from the start. He can handle any type track and will put an end to a track he starts. I owned this dogs Daddy and he was no doub a coon dog by anyones measuring stick. He was Hammer IX, and X. on both top and bottom also went back to Dave Woofter's Ohio Blue Hammer. Sadie continues to show some real great ability in her hunt, strike, treeing she can also wind and slam a lay up when she comes treed on a lay up she explodes as if she had run that track for a half mile no checking just bam and she is there to stay. I see the traits in this young hound that Mr. Dave Dean started for all us Bluetick lovers. Thank you Dave Dean for making such a hound possible.

John , This should be a real cross.. I got my start in the blueticks with a doubled up bred hussler dog or[Hammer II] blood. His name was Nt Ch. Pine Lake Blue Ben and was one heck of a tree dog.. One great moment back a fews years in 1983 he won King of Hunt at the zone II championship in Phillipi , WV. I also had some very good dogs sired from Dave's Ohio Hammer [ Hammer V x hussler } he was a good reproducer.. You will have some very old and scarce blood in these pups... Can't wait to get one of these pups..and the best one in the litter..lol Good luck with them John.......................Murph

Pencil, Ink,Type or Tatto me in for a girl pup. I know you know what a coondog is. I have tried to find Hussler to mix in for years with no luck. Now you go and do it with Rock and X mixed in as well. Should be a great cross. Dave

hope they turn out great. sure they'll be a few that make cooners in that fertile country. however, here in these rollin hills and hard woods, espesially with all the other hound hunters present putting the pressure on the coons, that line just dont seem to make it near as consistent as the smokey river and uchtman hounds. again good luck and keep us up to date on sadie and your uchtman hound and pups.

I think the last time the world hunt was out there in those rolling hills and hard woods that line John is talking about put a dog in the top ten of the UKC world hunt. I believe it was Hammer XVIII, I wonder if there was any pressure on the coons that week? lol Dave

and I am not line blind like some, I just posted that statement because I have saw other folks make it before about other lines in their country. hammer 18 was one dog, like I said I have had a few, I believe 6 hammer dogs from 13 and line bred from 10 and down. they did not last long In MY SPOTS. You see their is some great hunting here but within 30 miles of me there are close to 10 diff. (actually 8 that I know of) hunters that will hunt and take alot of coons. There is no place for slow to med track dogs as there are no pop-ups. I know you hunt Dave's line and if you like'em great. I doubht I'll ever try one again. ps. also had one from 18 about two years ago, he never seen 18 mnths. ps. are you sure 18 finished in the top 10, not tring to take anything away but I thought he finished 20 th, or did he finish top twenty two diff. years. what years and where at.

you can call me Dave my mom doesnt even call me Davey anymore lol. I know your not stirring the pot I didnt even take it that way. I think 18 was in Ada, Oklahoma in 98. Prolly was the last hunt Dave was in far as I know but I could be wrong. We sure dont see slow to medium track dogs here. I usually catch several coons on the ground every year. And yes they are from Mr Deans stock of dogs. The Hammer dogs where known for picking there heads up off the ground and going. There is a son of 18 up this way that is one of the toughest I have ever seen go,his name is Hillbilly. He operates just like his daddy did. I know you prefer Smokey River Kennel type dogs and that is fine. I do wonder what the bottom side of all those Hammer dogs you tried was? Good luck to you and your hounds. Dave

jet or krooked creek which goes back to hammer and jet. the 18 male on the bottom was a grandson of flinthills hank which is a littermate to sadie top reproducer bitch percentage wise. he was fair and could tree a hot one and was a lay up artist and tree dog if he would of been able to run a track he would have been nice. He was just always looking to lay one up. he was wierd to, wvery independent but would not hold pressure and not back a dog he pulled to if this makes since. I see you live in michigan so they probally are the best up there with out a doubht. ps. any one that tries to take any credit away from Dave Dean is a fool in my opinion. good luck dave.

Im sure these puppies will be real lookers when they are slammin coons right beside feeder buckets, and fallin treed behind the dog they were trained by. Good luck with them, this seems to be what kind of dog is winning the hunts. Sounds like you bred some real hunt winners with your stock. Again good luck with your top quality hounds.

some of this post is startin to look familiar, lol...is there anyone still breeding the hussler line? The only dog down in these parts I know of is a dog out of Bullet x Mullins Eagle Creek Rockie, I believe she is Smokey River and Hussler....

I believe Larry Storts in Ohio is reviving the Hussler dogs. I have hunted with a few of Larry's dogs and they are the real deal. I wish him luck in bringing old Hussler back on the scene. Dave

I was wondering because we had a female here that was a very successful cross to old Hussler. She was a superior reproducer.Was wondering if she was in you up coming pups pedigree. Her name was Punkin. She was bred to Hussler, Hammer III, and My Scout and threw exceptional pups in each cross. I spoke on the phone a few months ago to Doc Householder, we re-treed many a coon we treed 30+ years ago.It was great.....

John good luck with the pups. My old dog has hussler in the 4th gen. and 3 more times in 5th and 6th. You know I grew up in the mountains in eastern Ky. and if I had to move back there I would probably have to quit I've got used to this rolling land here in Ok. and we got lot's of coon where I hunt. nice picture you sent me.
