fipronil or imidacloprid

Frontline has fipronil but advantage has imidacloprid. I was wondering what was the difference between the two? The active ingredient in "tree and shrub" is imidacloprid and I've heard of people using it but I'm not to sure about it. The last couple of times I've used frontline its hasn't worked very well.?????? Any information would be appreciated! Also what's some ideas on the "tree and shrub"?

My girfriend uses Frontline on her Cockers. The dose on that appears to be 1 cc. She has never gotten rid of all the fleas on them but they are under controll . I don't understand how she has never had on outbreak in the house. I try to get her to use Tree and Shub but she won't hear of that. I have only used T&S on my hound pups that I have carried down there and picked up some fleas. They are chained out at home. The other kennels I treated with Adams Flea for carpets powder 2 years ago and It still must be working. The Adams flea Mist is a good quick knockdown but kind of expensive because the next day they pick up more fleas if there are any around. With the mist I think you see them fall dead off the dog but I suspect they are just knocked out but not dead. I ought to put some under glass and see if any come back to life.
