The Boss light is very nice. Ive tried many lights and this one having the colored led that eliminates a pop cover is the way to go.

Having owned both I like the valley creek. You have to use a helmet with a swivel mount on the boss light so The toggle switch on the back of the head will clear.. It makes the head stick out way too far and the helmet is real front heavy..

Haven't seen the Boss but i've been out with a the valley creek mini pro II and was real impressed, good spot with a nice halo around the outside, the color was also closer to a standard light and didn't have the blueish color to it.

I bought one of the first Boss lights that came out. This was before they had the CatsEye. When they came out with the CatsEye, got one and sold my standard Boss head. My light has been under water twice and is used 5-7 nights a week year around, not a single problem of any kind with light or head. I charge it once a week and have never had it get dim. I have no idea how long it will last between charges, certainly longer than a week. I don't know which is better or what is the best but Conkey is my choice supplier, no one else is even close and his Boss light is prolly as good as it gets. Redgy Ramsey is a coon hunter, highly respected in this sport and I'm sure his product is top of the line also. But Bruce Conkey's service leaves everyone else in the dust. No contest there.

If you can't find it with 5 white LEDs don't think you will find it with 6 white LEDs. If you forgot your pop cover you may find it with the Cat's Eye. You can use the Cat's Eye to walk with for bugs then shine the tree with it. Bruce is also having 8% off sale this month on Gamins, Boss Lights, Dans, Mucks, and everything.

I've abused my Boss to the ends of the earth, smashed, submerged, neglected, and generally wore it out. Works as well as the day I got it, with zero problems.
You WILL NOT find a better person to deal with than Mr. Conkey. Never an excuse, stuff ALWAYS shows up ON TIME. He will ABSOLUTELY STAND BEHIND WHAT HE SELLS.

Valley creek cap light and valleycreek mini pro are what we use all the time. Used it when won Pete d'andre hunting Ada,OK and when I won Rqe
at claremore then NT champion win at twbfa walker days in Portland, Indiana. These are the best and brightest light. And valley creek supply are the best when it comes to customer service. Redgy will take care of you.
. Your light is only as good as your dog, if there ain't a coon no light will find it
Valley creek is way to go

Any preferences or thoughts on the the rheostat on the boss light vs the 5 position click switch on the valley creek?

I looked at both last night and my thoughts were the rheostat was very touchy and seemed loose. I like the adjustability of it other than is seamed a light finicky. I like the 5 position switch on the valley creek. 1st click was real dim which I liked but the difference from click 1 to 2 was a more than I expected. 2nd click was bright.

Brightness was pretty similar between the 2.

I have the Boss cap light and LOVE it. I'm not crazy about the rheostat though and if given a choice I would prefer the click switch.

Hawk, call Kevin the builder of Boss lights and see if he can build one with a click switch. i had him build me a 24 volt with amber LED's instead of white, I just couldn't seem to adjust to the white ones. His # 606-305-1905

If money is keeping anybody from getting the Super Lite Boss just started making a 12 volt belt light that will be just like the cap light but will have a 5 position click switch on the belt. I would say it will be around the same price as the Cap light will just have to wait and see Bruce has not said anything about how much it will be.
