If everyone was like Larry Jones
"If everyone was like Larry Jones" That is the first thought to come to my mind when I decided to be courageous enough to write down a few of my memories with Larry.
First thing though I want to say is I love this man like a daddy. Lucky for me he has been one of my best friends and hunting partners in my life, and I will always remember him. Larry and I along with countless other good friends have logged mile after mile to hunts for competition and for pure fun. He was one of those people that will never be replaced.
Jones was the real deal. I have so many great memories of hunting, hanging out with or just sitting on back of a tailgate watching his corn grow talking about some hunt or some other crazy thing that happened on a night hunt or later on at the motel. Like this one time, it was either at AO's or WC in Albany, we were in the room asleep, Danny Leonard came in soaking wet and cold... and cut the heat wide open! Well around 4 in morning, Jones wakes up... LOL It was soooo stinking hot in the room! Jones jumps up, breaks the slide latch on the door trying to open it so quick and started fanning cold air in but couldn't say anything cause his mouth was sooo dry! Finally he says "I can't even spit!" LOL
One year at Grand American, Larry and I got seperated from each other and ya'll all know how crowded it is there, Larry had left is phone in the truck so I couldn't call him. I bet I walked that place over for 45 minutes to an hour just looking for that man. I was walking through the biggest dog barn there and I was just about to go out the door there, I heard Jones laugh, clear across the building! Ya'll all know how loud those dog barns are. Anyone who knows Jones, knows that laugh I'm talking about it! Boy he had a distinctive laugh and one I will miss hearing.
Oh yeah and man could he sing... When it was just him and me out hunting I would pester him until he would sing a little of How Great Thou Art for me and other gospel songs. If everyone was like Larry Jones we wouldn't have a need for Lawyers, the judicial system, or wars. (Excluding the middle east cause the Bible tells us it's always gonna be like that there.)
If Larry told you something you could count on it being true. His kind is few and far between these days . I could go on and on about him, I could only hope to ever be the kind of man Larry Jones was..... He loved his Lord, his family and I have never met anyone that loved coon hunting as much as Larry. He was a real gentleman in all aspects of his life and I am so proud and blessed to have been able to call him my friend. If there are coonhounds in Heaven, Larry Jones will have one! And it WILL be a BLUE one.
There will not be a day that passes that I won't miss him. I look forward to seeing my dear friend again when I join him in Heaven. Until that day, I love ya and I'm gonna miss you Larry.

STRAIGHTDRIVE KENNEL'S 
... Story : this is a story about Larry one night on a night hunt, I was handling his dog Topper ( Ole Top ). Before the hunt Larry had started talking to this young man around 17 yr old I think? hunting a Lil TW gyp, it was his first hunt. As luck would have it we drew out the young man, after 1st drop we were tied with his Lil gyp as top treed alone and his female had first on separate tree. We had about 30 some mins left to hunt all dogs was struck in when Top treed and as soon as he treed Jones coughs real loud while stepping towards me so he leans
