Mites?

I have used store bought, and vet meds stuff and this pup still has the brownish black stuff when I clean his ears.
He has started to split his ears due to shaken his head. We go back to the vet Tuesday. Any thoughts till then?

I always hear that ivomec is the best thing for ear mites but never actually dealt with it myself. The vet should get it figured out. When you guys coming back up here?

i lost a top dog back in the earlys 80s sounds like your dog has the same symptoms as my gyp had the vet started treating her for servere ear canker it kept coming back changed vets he said she had cancer not ear canker he couldnt gaurantee he would be able to help her he operated on her and scraped the bone in her her said that was all he could do she started getting bad again in a few mons took her back he said nothing he could do she was in really bad pain so i did what i thought was best for her had him put her to sleep so she wouldnt suffer any more hope you the best with your pup ole buddy

If your dog has the brown gunk or build up in the ear, many times it from yeast. Mites is also a possibility, but yeast and bacterial infections are common in long/drop eared dogs and they can drive dogs crazy just like mites can. Try some Zymox Ear Otic Solution. Some vets carry it... mine does, but you can usually get it cheaper by ordering from somewhere online like Amazon.

It's the best stuff I've ever used for ears. Our vet actually recommended to us. It works on bacteria, yeast etc. I've used all kinds of ear cleaning solutions and treatments and Zymox works the best IMO. They make an Otic Solution treatment and they also make a cleanser. We use both and since we started using it, we no longer have ear problems at all. If you look on Amazon.com, you can see all the five star reviews. There are probably hundreds of them on there.

Good luck and hope your dog's ears get better!!
