A SPECTATOR IS PART OF THE CAST, ALTHOUGH NOT A VOTING MEMBER OF THE CAST!!! THEY ARE EXPECTED TO ABIDE BY ALL UKC RULES AND THAT WOULD INCLUDE THE RULES COVERING TRACKERS AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVISES!!!

The Garmin cannot be in the on position if a member of the cast or a spectator in the truck can use it. Had it happen at Oaks a few years ago and that is what Allen said. A tracking can not be used by anyone in the cast or spectators during hunt time.

The way i see it is as long as your not communicating with the spectator what makes the difference. My girlfriend likes to go with me to hunts but dont want to slow the cast down. She dont even know how to use a tracker..... Probaby just a new way for someone huntin a worthless counterfiet dog to scratch someone.

Not being smart but that what is wrong with these hunt's,people bend the rule's. when it say's tracker's are not to be on that is what it mean's.It don't say if you don't know how to use it that someone can turn it on. And how can you be a specator if you are setting in the truck and the cast is a half a mile away. If you go along for the ride, you should go along for the walk. If you didn't know how to use the tracker ,then why would you have it on ? Not being SMART JMO

I feel that is you need a garmin to tell what your dog is doing in the woods and I cant beat you while your using it. I need to kill my dog and get a fishing pole. [/B][/QUOTE]

I agree 100% I really wish some of these people would try to call their dog off of what their garmin is telling them. If you need to look at that screen to tell of your dog is treed or not then I won't have any trouble beating you. Or better yet let a non hunting hunting judge carry a garmin with all the dogs collars on it. That would really cut back on the pitching. I would love to see it he required that all dogs wear a different colored flashing light. That would really cut back on a lot of B.S. I have literally seen a guy wrap black electrical tape over the little red flashing lights on his Garmin collar. If you couldn't hunt your dog without everyone in the cast seeing what it is doing maybe you better take a good long hard look at what is on the end of your leash and also what is staring back at you in the mirror.

The only problem I have encountered with a garmin issue during a cast was when the owner would sit in the truck , with garmin on, while handler was in timber. The problem that occurred more than once was the owner would be driving the roads around staying on top of dogs. Once when the dog was out of pocket and the handler never knew what direction the dog was until we heard a horn blasting to the west, then the handler started asking to go that way. Guess whos dog was to the west treed . I would bet that wasn't the first time this duo had pulled that one off. Over a 5 or 6 month period of time there was alot of people complaining about the same problem with this couple.

I wondered how you could be a spectator in a truck to but thays what they say... I leave my garmin on in the truck cause my dog goes huntin and dont wanna loose connection..... And you proved the other problem with hunts is people not knowing the rules! It states a garmin can be ON if left at truck but OFF if you carry it with you!

Can you please tell me what rule say's that if there is a specator in your truck that you can have it on.I own a garmin to and i don't care what BS you are trying to come up with just because you let it on don't mean you won't loose connection.Take your girlfriend along to a qualifier and see if she can sit in the truck.

I don't settle anything and you know it.
Allen wrote this up in the Advisor column 2 years ago and I think it is also written up in the Advisor book. That's where it got settled. Spectators can walk or stay at the truck it doesn't matter. You can carry your Garmin with you but if you carry it, it must be powered off. You can leave it powered on at the truck if your spectators isn't at the truck. If your spectators stays at he truck, they can not have a Garmin powered on.
That is the rule as laid out in the Advisor by Allen. You can follow it or ignore, that's up to you.

GPS TRACKING SYSTEMS IN UKC HUNTS
In light of recent calls, there seems to still be some confusion amongst hunters whether or not GPS tracking systems may be carried by the han_dler during the course of a UKC nite hunt. It has always been acceptable for the handler to carry any traditional tracking systems on them during hunting time. They just could not be turned on or used while time is in. For the record; GPS tracking systems are no different. They may be car_ried by the handler, but like any other tracking device, may not be turned on or used during hunting time while doing so.
Provisions were made for GPS Tracking Systems where a handler could leave it turned in the on position; however, if a handler opts to leave his GPS unit turned in the on position during hunting time, then the unit must be left in the vehicle and may not be used or viewed by anyone. That is, until time out has been called.
That provision is noted in Rule 20, which may possibly have lead to the misconception that they may not be carried during hunting time. This is not to be confused with electronic training devices. Those units may not be turned on or carried by the handler at any time during the course of a hunt unless the dog is scratched from the hunt and all other dogs have been handled. The consequences for disregarding the mis-use of any electronic device, whether it be tracking or controlling devices are, extremely significant in that they will land a handler on the barred list in a New York minute.

I talk to the cast before hand and we vote on whether or not to leave it on or not what we do if everyone votes on it I will pause tracking on the collar thebreason most of the time we leave it on is reference points to make it back to the truck faster instead of using a compus if the vote gets turned down then it doesn't get used at all

Maybe you should work on your reading skills and not garmin skills!

If you pause tracking its nothing more then a GPS that is used to help get you out the woods faster I just how them that the tracking is paused and at any time they can ask me to see the unit to check if it is tracking

SOUND'S TO ME LIKE YOU HAVE THE DUMD A** RIDING WITH YOU .I HAVE A 8 YEAR OLD GRANDSON WHO KNOW'S HOW TO READ A GARMIN. SOUND'S LIKE YOU ARE A 2HR MANIAC.... AND ANOTHER THING I DONE FORGOT MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW...AND AS FAR AS READING YOU ONLY READ WHAT YOU WANT..THE RULE SAY'S THAT IF A SPECTATOR STAY'S AT THE TRUCK THE GARMIN IS TO BE OFF. AND WATCH WHAT YOU WISH FOR ABOUT WANTING ME IN YOUR CAST ,ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.
