how much feed?

How close to the recommended cups or weight of feed do you actually feed each dog per day. I way looking at the dog food calorie calculator online just wondered how close every one trys to stay to recommended feed sizes? from what it says I am feeding more than needed, I know every dog is different, but the quality feeds seam to save money per bag by performing better

I'm not a dog , or a cow or whatever .... most of your dog peddlers feed every other day ... so I'd seen it before and was surprised then that I couldn't tell by looking that the dogs didn't eat every day.

Most people don't speak from experience or math ... they speak from a knee jerk reaction or their own ideas ... until you have tried and tested something ... how much is your opinion on it worth ? Might as well be talking about walking on the moon.

I have always kept just a few hounds and feed them the best feed and added hamburger , eggs and vitamins to their feed ... so I'm not coming from some way to take a shortcut.

I just know that most dogs never fully digest their feed ... they pass nearly as much as they eat ... wild canines and dogs were built to suck all the goodness out of their hard earned meals.

If you skip a feeding or two a week and let them clean out .. you will be surprised at what they pass that has been hung up in them .. it will really make you wonder when you see some of the stuff that has been hung as the fresh , half digested feed is being pushed out over it .

I do play it by ear .. I will feed two days in a row if they look or act like they need it ...

But all in all ... my dogs are healthier and on a better cycle by letting them digest more of their feed and empty all of what's in them before feeding more ...

I think that's how dogs are meant to eat and most all of us have gotten out of touch with doing our due diligence on our dog's diet.

And for the record .. I don't eat and poop all day long like most ... I have been on a diet change myself and am as lean and mean as ever ....

Feed every other day

I've heard a few old timers do this. I can see doing it in the summer.

I feed diamond naturals chicken and rice, i start at the recommended amount per dog weight on the back of the bag. After a few weeks i adjust to the particular dog whether they look like they need more or less. I also feed a cup or two after hunting. Dogs aren't people, they don't eat or digest or have metabolisms like people.
