I don't know if it was due to a careful mama, or if the rails really worked...but I didn't have any got laid on from my last litter. Either way, having them in the box didn't hurt. Plus once the pups got a little bigger in size they loved laying under them.

I had a gyp have a litter of oops puppies in a barrel and I was out of town and found them when I returned.

Not the first pup was dead.

I watched as the gyp went into the barrel and leaned against the side of the barrel and slid down.

When she hit the puppy pile it looked like a bowling ball; pups went everywhere except under her.

She raised out a large litter in that barrel and never lost one; there was nothing for the pup to get squeezed against and no way for a pup to get away from the puppy pile and get chilled.

Yes I like rails.
