Dog Humping

If you have a male dog who is a nice strike dog nice split tree, but when a female is near his mind goes to humping, and you have switched him how do you break this.he is young and just started this.

You need an older female to put with him she will break him.

My black and tan would do the trick. I had a young red bone male that did the same thing. She put him in his place real fast!

In my opinion a dog that would rather breed than try to hunt is not breeding material. I had a bird dog that was top of the line other than his trying to hump or piss on everything in sight. Well I decided to breed him anyway despite my better judgement. Now one of his pups would rather run around pissing on everything in sight instead of hunt. John Wick says the same thing. He will not use a dog for breeding if he won't go hunting with a red hot ready to breed female and go hunting instead of following her around. A dog that would rather hunt than breed is a much better candidate for breeding stock.

Not all good or even exceptional coondogs are breeding stock material. Just hunt and enjoy him, and don't pass problems down to the next generation. In my opinion the true freaks of nature kind of dogs do not reproduce as well as the good all around balanced dogs do.

Mike Hurt has been this way since he was 18 years old. Most of the locals have just come to overlook it.

some males

This is a way for them to show he is dominate but young males just need the sh!t knocked out of em usually they teenager all horned up but very very few hounds are breeding material when u hunt with a TRUE stud dog you will say holy crap I gotta get some of that there is no comparison just hunt the hair off em teach em he will come around these usually take a few good thumpings

Good hot e collar, don't hold back either. Juice him up. Followed by a really heavy boot if needed.

Good for you.

If you can't correct it with TRYING SOMETHING, then try some of the other suggestions.

As for the steers, I think they are just bored with boyhood and need a change. Good question tho.

Thats where I would draw the line in a hunt. I don't care how far in the hole I was if my gyp wasn't in heat and he was riding her mr. Clean would be on the box for interference.

A shocker will do the trick, turn it up high and make him know its hitting him, put him as far away from the female as he can get, problem solved in 3 times max. Really isn't that big of an issue.....

Maybe I am wrong, but shocking him while he is humpinng the female could make him aggressive toward her and then you might have a whole new problem.

My mom was walking two curs down the driveway to walk on the road, she forgot to take off a yard containment collar from one and when he started getting shocked it erupted into a dog fight between the two, brothers that have been around each other since they were born with no problems.

I think that in your circumstance you want him to know that you are upset and a switch or a boot let's him know that you are the cause of him getting corrected.

Just my 2 cents, I am sure that some one will disagree.
