As a taxidermist, I will be the first one to tell you that while price is certainly a consideration....it should not be your FIRST consideration.
Taxidermy prices are driven by local supply and demand. The guy that does it the "cheapest" may well be cutting corners. My last supply order had a shipping bill of almost $400.00 that is JUST TO HAVE THE SUPPLIES SHIPPED TO ME....so nothing is "cheap" any more.
Here in Northern Indiana, I can tell you of a guy that says he will mount your deer for $75.00, and I can give you the name of a fellow who will charge you $600.00. I have no idea HOW the guy is doing deer for $75.00, I have way more than that in just supplies and tanning! So the price varies.
I'll do a lifesize coon for you for $400.00. Pretty much the going rate for turkey is $500.00. Turkey supplies are VERY expensive...so that is the reason behind the price difference.
