biting flies

I don't know if this fits here but I didn't see anywhere else to put it. I have a real problem with biting flies on my dogs and was looking for some remedy to keep them off. Also they are worse on some more than others. The dogs that are having the worst problems are black and tan my treeing cur and English dog aren't as bothered by them. Any help would be VERY WELCOME. Thanks and God bless.

1/2 ounce Permethrin 10% a little on the head and rest down back.rub it in, will keep flies away for about a month.Use straight out the bottle from TSC

Take some of the permethrin and spray a very lite coat on a white rag, then hang it upwhere the breeze will make it move. The fries will land on it and will die.

I use a waterproof equine fly spray on my dogs during the warmer months, both for flea and fly repellant since my kennels are in the horse pasture. I also started spraying the 10% Permethrin in the kennels and horse's stalls once a week, and it really seemed to help keep the fly population down as well as helping with fleas.

Glynn, did you notice if putting the Permethrin directly on the dogs like that also helped with fleas? The way the directions tell you to mix it on the bottle had me a little scared to put it on them, but I figured it was probably ok in small amounts.
