TriTronics or Sportdog......Let's ask the poll.

In fact, lets make it really interesting since both companies have highly successful and well known coon hunters, Scott Engle and Ashley Hopkins, on their staffs.

The dogs or people dont matter to me, scott is a good friend and has good dogs.. But I like sport dog shockers better than t-t . The older ones were good but not any more..

SportDog

I have a Sport Dog 3225 that I bought last summer. I don't like it very much because set to the highest mode it still doesn't phase my hounds until its turned up on 5. I even have a dog that it won't phase turned to 7 which is the highest. If you vote on the pole I would like to here your opinions on the brand you choose please. I am not going to vote although I do have an older Tri-Tronics field 70 that knocks em down on 3.

Yeah, I'm not trying to start a Scott/Ashley competition, just thought it was kinda cool that they go head to head in the woods AND in the commercial world. I've always owned TriTronics but I've bout made up my mind the next one will be a Sportdog. Time to try something different.

i like them both...but i prefer the sport dog. Got one for yard work and i have the long range for in the field. both work really well. I had tri tronics in the past and they worked well also.

Looks more like a mojo popularity contest to me. Far as the shockers go i have owned and used both and i like sportdog better, they both do the job but price and customer service put sportdog on top.
The guy who said sportdog doesnt hit hard enough either has a bad unit or a really stupid dog.

Jim,

The benefit of being in this sport for such a long time offers many different opportunities.

I have owned at least a couple of systems from both companies. I prefer Tritronics. I will admit Tritronics does need to address the collar loops. They maybe alright for a lab sitting in a blind, but the hounds are just too hard on them.

TT!!! But it has nothing to do with Engle or any other popular hunter that's using it. It just works better and is more dependable & durable than the Sportdog.

I must not be comparing apples to apples. I have not owned a tritronics but they were 5 or $600 and would reach for miles. My buddies had them. I did not need one for trashy dogs. I bought a new Sportdog For 85$ and all i wanted it to do was reach from the cab to the dogbox if one cranked up. It also worked when I headed to a tree and a dog in the box cranks up. I know it worked out a 100 yards. I can't stand a dog to noise up my box. That is My Box , not his box and he better learn that real quick. LOL Evidently Sportdog makes one that will reach out there too that i am not familiar with so I realy can't compare.

By the way I lost the sportdog transmitter but still have the collar. If I have a pup and a old dog in the box when I head to the tree and they crank up I can put my light back at them from 100s yards away and the old one still remembers to shut up so sometimes the pup just does it too. Can someone post sportdogs number soI can see if i can just buy a transmiiter? I am a tightwad. LOL I'd Hate to spend a whole nuther hunderd dollar.
