Redbone training

I just got a pup about five months ago its my first one so far i have been letting him be a pup socializing and going over obedience with him sit/come/stay/heel on lead. I showed him a roadkill and did a drag for him he showed interest and barked at the tree it was in what should I do next I also have had him in the woods a bit on lead

catch some coon n a live trap . and tease the dog with it . then turn it loose . wen the coon is close to the wood line . turn the pup loose and see if they tree it. keep doing this till dog trees and stays at the tree.
