I wouldn't be surprised. Corn crop this year has been devastated by drought and heat.

Me and papaw have already talked about buying up a years worth of food or more at the current price before it starts jumping up.

Dog food has an expiration date on the bag. If kept inside away from heat, moisture and cold it should keep. I have kept food for 3-5 months before without a problem and that was in a garage.

If we buy some this year we plan on keeping it stored in a spare bedroom.

Dog food

Yeah,I really feel sorry for the farmers in the Ohio Valley and mid west.I hear y'all are gittin' hit really hard.Farmers around here are sayin' its been one of the best years they've had in a while.(knock on wood) Even though its been hot, seems like we've been gittin' a really good heavy downpour at all the right times.Corn looks great.Beans are lookin' good too.

Keep a Eye on These Reports !!! http://www.ams.usda.gov/mnreports/sj_gr225.txt

http://www.cattlenetwork.com/cattle...66.html?ref=066

"A corn price increase of the magnitude that we have seen over the last month has major implications for related markets including, naturally, livestock markets. The broad strokes of the adjustments that take place in the livestock and poultry sector are easy to understand: higher corn prices drive up feed costs and higher feed costs result in lower production of livestock related products (beef, pork, chicken, dairy products, eggs, etc.). As a practical matter, though, adjustments to higher corn prices involve the rebalancing of very complex production systems. This process takes time, and it can be quite painful for those involved in it. So, at this early point – still only about a month into this situation – what adjustments are we seeing?."

$15-$30 Per Ton Higher Already !!

CORN FEEDS: Yellow Corn Hominy in Central Illinois was 15.00 to 30.00 higher to
from 240.00-245.00; Kansas City (Northwest) was 5.00 higher at 215.00; St. Louis
was 19.00 higher at 253.00; rail delivered California ranged 15.00 to 20.00
higher at 315.00. Corn Gluten Feed in the Midwest (IA, IL, IN) was 28.00 to
40.00 higher from 180.00-203.00; Kansas City was 35.00 to 45.00 higher at
240.00; St. Louis was 44.00 to 60.00 higher from 220.00-229.00. Corn Gluten
Meal, 60 percent protein in the Midwest (IA, IL, IN) was 30.00 to 55.00 higher
from 600.00-670.00; Kansas City was 5.00 to 10.00 higher from 685.00-695.00; St.
Louis was 15.00 to 20.00 higher from 630.00-640.00; Memphis was 40.00 higher at
640.00. Distillers Dried Grain prices in Eastern Corn-belt were 10.00 to 21.00
higher from 260.00-290.00; Chicago area was 20.00 higher from 265.00-270.00;
Lawrenceburg, IN was not available; Nebraska was 25.00 to 44.00 higher from

was 25.00 to 35.00 higher from 285.00-310.00; Iowa was 13.00 to 23.00 higher
from 250.00-275.00; Northern Missouri was 10.00 to 15.00 higher from 270.00-
290.00; St. Louis was 30.00 to 36.00 higher from 267.00-280.00; Wisconsin was
20.00 to 25.00 higher from 250.00-265.00; rail delivered California was 5.00 to
16.00 higher from 305.00-330.00.

RECORD HIGHS Yesterday !!!!

http://www.cattlenetwork.com/cattle...-162925346.html

Corn futures closed 12 to 15 cents higher on Wednesday. The market experienced a day of choppy trade before rebounding to close at record high levels. Both August and September futures traded close to $8 as the Midwest drought expands its territory. As indicated by steadily declining condition ratings, the 2012 corn crop is quickly deteriorating, increasing concern that average corn yields will be substantially lower the USDA’s 146 bushel per acre estimate.

This will also be the next excuse for sky rocketing gas prices! They will run it up to around $4.50-$5.00 a gallon this time and there is nothing we can do!

USDA Drops Yield Est. Per Acre By 20 Bushels

USDA estimated the lowest corn yield in nine years in last week’s World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE). Corn and soybean prices surged after this latest government report said 30 percent of the corn in the 18 states that produce most of this nation’s crop is now considered in poor or very poor condition.

The estimate for corn now stands at 146 bushels per acre, a 20-bushel drop by USDA to account for the impact of heat and drought stress on this year’s crop. The trade was expecting a more incremental adjustment of 154 bushels, according to Texas A&M analyst Mark Welch.

So Around 126 Bushel per Acre Avj. .... They Won't get it Here !!

That eqates to around $900 per Arce at The Current Future of $8.00 per Bushel ...

$15 per 100# Wt. Stright off the Field .. Add Trucking and Handling , Sheld Corn At the Feed Store will be a Easy $20 + per 100#

This is going to be a lot bigger than just dog food and deer feed.

Just about everything in the grocery store will go up.

We currently convert 40% of the US corn crop into ethenol.....If anyone wants to explain to me how 8$ corn can be profitably turned into ethanol @ 3.50 a gallon.....Im all ears.

Josh, it's called government subsidy. without the subsidy ethanol would be higher then regular gas. There is lots of taxpayer money used to subsidize ethanol. This is not paid to the petroleum companies but goes into the farm program and corn growers get the money. We get screwed as consumers both ways, as taxpayers and when we purchase food products.
