North Carolina Dog Hunters (ATTN)

Fellow Hunters
I live in south eastern NC in Brunswick County.Resently A good friend of mine wanted me to attend a (Brunswick county sporting dog association) meeting. I have been to 2 so far. And Hunters, we just dont relize how close we are to losing our dog hunting in N.C. And its not just deer hunting, coonhunting ,or bearhunting, its dog hunting period. As north Carolina Dog Hunters, We are going to have to band together and fight this or lose our dog hunting rights.I was wandering does any other counties in N.C have any organizations to help fight this!

Thanks

The NC Coonhunters Assn has helped in many local matters, we have sent reps to Raleigh as well as to individual county level meetings.
NC Coonhunters is also a member of the NC Sporting Dog Assn, which means all of our club level members are members of that organization. (ie. if you are a member of a club, that is a member of NC Coonhunters, you are by default also a member of the NC Sporting Dog Assn.)
If there are any specific issues that need to be addressed contact myself or Mr. David gardin for assistance, the cost is covered by profits from the NC State Championship (UKC) held in Carthage each April.

it's my opinion that a lot of people are doin it to themselves. i live in NC too and i know about a lot of stuff that goes on. i'm not trying to point any fingers or get anybody riled up but the fact is, and this is mostly what i've seen in a few certain deer huntin gangs around here where i live, they go wherever they when they want. a person can tell them they don't want them to hunt their land and they go anyway. if they were just trying to catch their hounds that would be one thing but they want to hunt everone else's land and keep theirs to themselves and people are getting tired of it. if dog huntin goes i feel like deer hunting with dogs will be the first to go because of this. they say they love it and that they want to preserve the sport but if they really did they would show respect to people and their property JMO
i love huntin of any kind with hounds and especially coon huntin and i don't want to see it go either but until some people change i don't know what we can do. the state would sooner side with the land-owners that are gettin "run over" i think because of a few bad seeds then with those of us who really care once again though JMO

deer hunters in this county made a comment that if the county prohibits deer hunt w/ dogs then they were coming after the coon hunters. each group thinks they are in this fight by themselves, but if they ALL would get over the ego and join forces it would be much more effective. that goes for hunters, showers, breeders, fanciers, etc. everyone!

They tried this a few years back here in VA. Game department had VT do the study on it. Had meeting with all groups of hound hunters. Each group had their own meetings and they picked the best reps from each group to form a board out of all the groups. I was involed in the 1st go around. (The biggest complaint was on the deer hunters) My understanding was they were they were overwhelmed with all the info and droped it? Lyndell Price was on the board as the coonhunters rep so if any one knows him someone might want to give him a call I'm sure he could give some insight
