I've hunted reds for around 12 years but have really only been interested in other breeding until the last few years, hunted only with others for the first 2 years and my only red older than 16 months is his mother who is 10 years and was my first redbone, I'm no professional but I have read a lot

So true.
Here is the link for the board. Just click it.
http://forums.ukcdogs.com/forumdisp...&forumid=25

Lots of top notch redbones out there. You need to ask yourself what you are looking for in a dog and go from there.
I:E Close,medium,deep hunters.
Type of mouth ontrack and tree. Bawl/chop, bawl/bawl etc.
Big mouth window rattler or average.
Nose. Hot, med, or cold.
I recommend buying from an accomplished breeder. They know their lines strengths and weaknesses. They can also help with problems that may arise in the training. They've seen it and know how to correct it.
Good luck and welcome to the breed.
Scott

Theres less redbones out there compared to alot of the other breeds, therefore theres less good redbones compared to good ones in alot of other breeds too. If that makes any sense? I assure you though, there are good ones out there. I'd like to even think I own a few good ones.

Years ago and i mean years ago. There use to be a Van Greene breeding my uncle had. He finished second at autumn oaks or the nationals or something don't know which i'd have to ask him or Terry Daniels again. But any how them were the best redbones i've heard of and got to follow a few of Buds offspring out of. They were coondogs bar none. My uncle who was as big into redbones as any i knew at the time said they ruined the red bone breed when they started breeding to put the purity in them for them god dang show dogs and lost alot hunt them. He's in his late 70's now and still follows the red dogs pretty close. Everything else to him is just mutts he says. LOL got love them old timers.

Been to the woods with a few..........I'm sure there good ones out there I have no doubt I just haven't had the pleasure to walk behind one. I know you can't judge a dog on one night and in not just haven't seen a red perform the way I like dogs to.
