What is Going on ?

I have a 3yr old treeing walker that I have had almost a year. He has been doing a good job and me and my boys have been having alot of fun hunting him.

My issue is Sometimes he will strike a track and run it and instead of giving a locate and start treeing, he will just start choping in one spot and nowhere near as hard as when he hooks the wood.

I go to him he will be in one spot smelling the ground and checking a few trees right in that area but then he goes back to that spot on the ground again half a$$ barking treed. He is a good tree dog and is really accurate when he locks on.

The only off game we have had a issue with is a fox, other than that he has been straight (SO FAR). The guy I bought him from said he did not work a coon track in a hole very well.
This has happened in the swamp and on tracks that went to high ground . I have looked for holes but have not found any right around him.

It is like the track disappers, I thought maybe it might be a old turkey track but he runs it like a coon track ( both hot and cold track)

Thanks for any help on this

Jeff D
