Sure coon aren't moving as well. It's December, the moon is full, and the temperature is in the teens. Now where is all them folks that were on here last month saying the moon doesn't effect coon movement?

I was out last night, (Calander full moon) temp about 14 degrees. Now my Gr. Nt. had to go a little deeper to get struck, and the tracking conditions were a lot tougher, so he had to work the tracks, (not run them) but was still able to tree 3 out of 4 tracks on the outside.

You will find out just how much depth your dog has in Dec.& Jan. So if your having trouble getting a strike, either you need more hunting ground, or more nose. You will have to figure out which one it is that you need more of.

Good Hunting!!

I went a couble nights ago and here is how my hunt went.

First cut about 30 mins after dark. Casted my female and she went about a mile (which is rare for her) never struck until she fell treed.

Got to her and she was on a big sugar tree with a hole in the bottom. Had the coon in the bottom.

Next cut she took about 10 monutes and again gave a few hit around ground barks before falling treed. Got to her and she was on a huge sugar den tree. Holes all over it up high, no coon seen.

Next cut she went over 1000 yards and never gave a ground bark before falling treed on a huge sugar den tree with 3 holes in it. I seen at least 3 coon in it.

if people dont think the moon effects coon movement they are just stirring the pot. its common sense. ive only been on this site a little while and theres a lot of people on here just for that reason. im pretty sure a lot of them havent been coonhunting in years. if ever.
