In Indiana, a landowner has ALL the rights when it comes to accessing private property. Not even the CO can force a landowner to allow access. All the property I hunt is owned by farmers and I don't know a single farmer that would be willing to give up his absolute property rights. I know I wouldn't.

I know one coonhunter in LaGrange county that got nailed for trespass when a game cam recorded him. Apparently those things are considered legal evidence, at least in LaGrange county.

IN OHIO IT IS BETTER IF YOU CAN GET REDUSED TO HUNTING WITH PREMISSION THAT WAS ADOUT 100. AND 5 YRS LIKE PROBATION ITS NOT BUT YOU DONT WANT TO GET CAUGHT THE 2ND TIME.

I don't know what the ticket would have cost, but I paid a lawyer $200 to get one taken care of. The judge gave me a "suspended.." something or other which meant if I didn't have any legal issues for 6 mos., they would take it off. I didn't, and they took it off.

I didn't want it on my record. I figure if I ran afoul again it would look bad if they checked and saw that it wasn't my first time.

Keep in mind, Indiana laws view these three things very differently; Hunting Without Consent, Trespassing and Criminal Trespassing.

We had a C O that was a member of our club that said in Indiana that you have the right to go on any private land and get your dog as long as you don't carry your firearm. He said it is a law that not to many people know about. I sure hope he knows what he is talking about , because i sure do it alot

I'm purty sure he DOESN'T know what he is talking about but if I was gonna make such a statement I would darn sure back it up with a statute which anyone can find in a Google search if it, in fact, exist. I don't think this one does.

Hey I've read that in some states you can get a trespassing ticket FOR YOUR DOG going across the property line.

That's right, even if you never left property you had permission to be on if your dog ran a race that went off that property, but you never left that property, they can fine you for your dog "tresspassing".

Now that's a crock right there.

Jim This C O was on our board of directors..At one of the meetings, he stood up and said that Indiana law allows coon hunters to get their dog on any private land without landowner permission as long as you do not carry your firearm. Dogs do not know boundries. Chris from the tree dog alliance should know, he is a C O
