At Dry Creek Kennel we feed our hounds Purina. Some get Purina Dog Chow mixed with HiPro and a few special ones get Purina ONE lamb and rice. If you want a great dog food Purina produces many different kinds for all kinds of needs. But if I had the choice all of mine would eat Purina ONE. I get great results with their coats and they have enough energy to do all the worj that they need to.

haxe to agree with lee on diamond high energy super foofeed and the first ingredient is meat meal not corn dogs are by nature meat eaters not vegetable eaters first ingredient in any dog food is the basis of the food when meat is second and third ingrediant the percentage of meat is much lower
since feeding diamond my hounds look better on a lot less feed making it more economical
the less they eat the less to clean up and the stool is neverloose or runny

We have self feeders and use Diamond yellow bag in the summer and diamond green bag in the winter.Works good for us.Start puppies on rice baby cereal and then switch to Purina puppy chow.Have used Diamond puppy chow with good results.

Here's a question for the folk's in the South East.
Anyone ever heard of or tried the Cody Brothers feed? They have a feed store in Marietta SC.
Mr. Cody is pretty well known around here with his Walker dogs and is promoting this feed that he had developed for coonhounds.

I feed my guys raw meat and raw veggies. If I need to feed a dry, I feed Balance Diet its a fermented food with no grains, but its not cheap, its $52.00 for 20 pounds but then you only feed a dog like Avery 2 cups a day at most , but I only feed this when I am traveling or if I run out of raw.

But for most times I feed raw chicken.

Members Mark "Exceed"

It's a Super Premium 26-16 Lamb and Rice formula. Reasonably priced, the dogs like it, they do well on it. I've fed PKC, Black Gold, Purina Dog Chow, Purina ONE, PRO Plan, HiPro, others.

This one is as good as anything I've fed. The dogs did not like Purina ONE.

Purina !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Purina High-Pro, Pro Plan Performance, Purina Puppy Chow, and Purina One Lamb & Rice as each dog has different requirements.

They look great, act great, and when the hunt is over they are still ready for more. No need for suppliments, only top quality, Vet tested, Vet researched Purina products are fed at Southland Kennels !!!!!!

When you have the Best, why mess with the rest !!!!!!

We feed Diamond Hi-Energy this feed has done wonders for my hounds. I use to feed the Black Gold 26-18 but I had a couple of dogs that couldn't gain weight on it. This Diamond is for real and I feed less. Dogs can go all night.

You mentioned using Purina Pro Plan,do you get the Pro Plan rebate checks and does this put Pro Plan in the same price range as Diamond or Black Gold?

have not fed Purina in a while,

but I think it is 12 cents per pound rebate you get, and you have to accumulate 5000 points before you can redeem them. So you could use that to figure if that would make it comparable to the other dog foods in price. If I'm wrong, someone will corect me.

It adds up to being..

About $7.00 a bag after the rebates and stuff.

We also feed Purina.

I wish you could have saw Hank in March, compared to him now. He's slick, shiny, healthy, and has all the energy he needs to hunt as long as we need him to.

Samhain, yes I am a member of the PRO CLUB and send in my circles for my points that I turn in for rebate checks. The check is $7 and when I use one check on Pro Plan (Performance) it makes the bag cost about $22. High, yes but you have to remember it is 30/20 and only a little portion is needed to keep a dog right, and I have 1-2 dogs on performance due to travel, stress and hunting in competition. That bag will last me any where from 4-6 weeks which compared to other feeds for the same amount of dogs is cost smart.

Now when I buy my Hi-Pro which cost me $15 for a 50lb bag you use one check on 2 bags and it brings the cost down to $11.50 per bag, much lower than most of the other feeds I see or hear about, and again Vet tested, and Vet recommended. Tons of research go into each bag and for my money its the only feed I'd put in my dogs bowl.

My bird dogs hunt all day, and my coon dogs hunt all night, and I don't think they would do it on any other food. I hunt with guys feeding other brands, and they don't last and run out of fuel at times, and I just tell them to switch to the best or they can't compete against the rest !!!!!!!
