I have one. The good is it holds a pile of shells. I am not sure quite how many but it I believe it will hold 15 or so long rilfe and 20 or so shorts. Its small, its not that heavy and its accurate.

The bad is When you put a new shell in, its ready to shoot. I don't like how lever action rifles pull the hammer back when you put a new shell in, thats just personal. The lever is pretty small so with gloves on its pretty tough to get your hands into it to cycle the action. As with other youth models it is not set up to accept a sling so if you want to put one on you have to drill and tap the stock and the back end.

I have one that is brand stinking new. I bought it to coonhunt with and really just never used it at all. It sits in the gun case. My go to gun as I have said on here 2 million times is my CZ 452 scout. IMO it is the best little coonhunting rifle a man can buy.

This is the scout. I have a 4X scope on mine and had it drilled and tapped for a sling. It fits me about perfect. Taller people with longer arms don't find it as comfortable and easy to shoot as I do. I can easily hold my light in one had and the gun in the other and shoot very accurately. It comes as a single shot but you can get a 10 round clip from CZ for about $30. It shoots shorts longs or whatever and I have never had an issue with getting the shells out or having them cycle. Its cost is very similar to the Henry. Not a throwaway gun like some other youth models.

Hello Seth, I don't mean to jump your post but my wife just ordered for me (for christmas) the new HOT SHOT 22 made by Thompson Center. It is the same size as the Cricket and/or Chipmunk but this rifle breaks down like a single shot, shotgun. Though I have never used it yet, I think with the breakdown feature it will be so much easier to reload after dark when compared to the small opening in the bolt action that you have to work with on the Chipmunks and Crickets.

Again sorry for jumping in but wanted you to be aware of something I have found.

Dave, is it a single shot? my rossi 22/410 combo breaks down like that to. they are nice little guns, the problem is its a pain to order anything from them.

Yes Chad it is a single shot rifle. I'm sure looking forward to Christmas. It comes with a peep sight, but is drilled and tapped for a scope mount, so my plan is to put a scope on it.

My buddy has one and I have the regular version and honestly there is only about an inch difference in length. It is the most I have ever paid for a 22. It is nice but I like my Walmart special Savage bolt action better. The Old Henry shoots a tight group but the Savage drives tacks.
