Taking a 2 month hunting?

I have a couple of 2 month old english pups. I was wondering what people thought of taking them out with me when I am hunting with my older dogs?

Probably not the best idea.

I did that when I was younger. They just ended up sleeping underneath the seat in my truck and didn't hear a peep out of them all night. I find that it would be pointless.

Pups need to be left to grow. Some daytime walks in the woods can't hurt, get them out and let them learn to get into mischief a bit but they need lots of attention if you are trying to actually hunt.

Pups that small can't keep up with older dogs" IF" they try to go and you usually spend time looking for them if they do.

ever one seems to say no but i dont think it'll hurt at all to take em try to get em to walk with ya thru the woods let em get out and prowel etc. It isn't going to help them very much but wont hurt them to get out and prowel around at night

2 months old? what could they possible learn while your working your grown and trained dog. You would be much further ahead taking them for daytime walks in the woods so they can learn to get around. JMHO

you cant take the pup with ya and let it roam around the woods while your old dog is huntin or walk to the tree with you????? IT cannot hurt the pups it may not help them much other than just gettin em out and used to ridin in the truck but it wont hurt them

i think its a good ideal to take a 2 month old pup coon hunting, i think it gets them use to rideing in the dog box and crossing creeks and they will start likeing the smell of woods and hearing the older dogs running and treeing, i also think sometimes they will mature quicker by hunting them young.

That's what I think too. They are not big enough to even jump out of the dogbox, much less back in it. If they happen to get in the way of a shot out coon and get pinched they will learn a lesson about it but it WILL NOT ruin a decent pup. I don't do it because they will not learn enough to make it worth my aggravation. But, if you are not easily aggravated and don't expect one iota out of them , then , by all means have at it.

Won't hurt them a bit, but it may test your patience. I always tell my son that they won't learn anything sitting in the kennel.

I take my 3 month old cat/hound mix with me, when I go take my 1yr old walker to the woods. He follows me where ever I go. He doesn't even attempt to go with her yet. But in the yard when we are practicing treeing or running drags. He follows her and does everything she does. Still practice in the yard cause she doesn't stay stuck to a tree that well yet. But its getting better.

Screwed Up

Just my opinion. An 8 week old puppy could get set back for life instead of waiting till its big enough to atleast cross a log. Too much risk to carry one that's barely off mommas teet. Take em in the day time and just walk in the woods and let em play. I would hate to carry a couple of pups a mile from a tree.

Yep, but night hunting is too much for pups that young.
