What's yalls proven method at breaking a dog from being gun shy?

tie it too somthing have someone petting on it and playing with it to make it happy and shoot 7 or 8 times a day till its broke from it so it knows that it wont hurt them...

If your pen is a couple hundred feet fom the house just sit on the back porch and shoot at crows or something. Don't pay the pup any attention at all . Don't have a gunshy one at the pen with him though. Monkey see monkey do.

I reread your post. Do you mean he is already gunshy and you are trying to get him over it or he is normal and you just want to get him used to shooting?
