22 Mag Ammo

ANYONE OUT THERE LOVE THE 22 WMR LIKE I DO? WHAT KIND OF GUNS YALL SHOOT, AND WHAT AMMO IS THE REAL QUESTION. SO MUCH NEW STUFF I WAS WONDERING WHAT EVERYONE WAS HAVING LUCK WITH. I WAS JUST SHOOTING STANDARD CCI 40 GR. H.P. THROUGH MY RUGER ALL WEATHER, BUT I TRIED THE 30 GR. HORNADY WITH THE RED TIPS. THEY DID GOOD FOR AWHILE THEN SEEMED TO START SPRAYING THEM. NOW I HAVE WENT TO THE CCI 30 GR. "PLUS V" LOAD AND HAVE CUTTING HOLE ACCURACY. I KNOW REMINGTON HAS SOME BUT HAVE NOT TRIED ANY. WHAT DO YOU ALL LIKE?

well... i have killed 1 wild hog with mine. dont get me wrong it is not enough gun in general for that but the situation presented itself and i took it. and when i was younger and dumber i saw a kid bet on a 160 yard shot at a white tail deer (no way it could be done) and that dude done a back flip and fell dead! i have saw many many deer killed by them but it is against the law to use them for that here. i use mine for everything...i carry it squirrel hunting but i use solid nose 40 gr. cci ammo for that. they will take a turkey down nice too cause my buddy years ago shot one dead in the bobbing head with his. i just mainly varmint hunt with mine but.... with this new 30 gr. tipped ammo i wonder if you will loose the penetration? i would trust mine out to 200 yards any time on coyotes, but like i said i been shooting a 30 gr. jacketed h.p. .

i will also go ahead a offend someone by saying the 22 wmr is 100 times the gun a 17 will ever be. i hate a 17, but that goes back to thicker skinned animals and longer shots basically PENETRATION is my issue or question. i just had a bad deal on the 17 i had, i could nail it all day at the range but i could not hit game to save my life.
my 22 mag is like an old friend. i pull it up the same every time...you know what i mean.
please do not take all this wrong. i am raising an 11 year old son in the woods. i DO NOT use mine for any type of poaching. i dont want my son doing the stupid things i did. but i love killing coyotes, squirrel for dinner, maybe another hog if it appears, and just alot of range shooting. I JUST HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THE 22 WMR but i am real curious about all this new "wildcat" ammo. sorry to take up so much space but i could talk guns all day!

Marlin stainless bolt action with the fancy wood stock. Way to nice to beat around the woods at night but that is what guns are fore. I use CCI hollow points.

what are you shooting from mag research? i have saw where federal offers a premium v-shock 30 gr. speer j h p . winchester has the 30 gr in v-max and a 34 gr. j.h.p. i wonder what the 4 gr helps or is for? remington is higher priced on a 33 gr. "accu-tip" ,they mention the accuracy and expansion. i just dont see how the grouping from mine using the CCI 30 gr. plus-v round can be beat really, but i like to play around with it. i am just on my annual 22 mag fixation. when shooting from a rest i just cut hole after hole at 50 yards. how much more accurate can you get? most animals i could shoot in the eye out fairly far, i dont know of much that can handle that, that is mainly why i think the 22 mag is the meanest little squirrel rifle ever thought of.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND A TRAJECTORY TABLE FOR THE 22 WMR????

my dad has a marlin with a fancy like laminated wood stock and stainless barrel. if i remember right the factory iron sights were like some type tru glo. that gun of his shoots just like mine. that is a real nice gun and i think his is tube fed which i really like.

I have a TC Contender .22 mag 10" barrel with a red dot scope. It shoots very sweet. Even my 73 year old mother can shatter clay pigeons at 45-50 yards with it. I prefer the solid nosed CCI shells.

I haven't pushed a shot to 100 yards yet, but I do need to try that.

The hood on the front sight is removable so I took mine off. I use a 4 power scope. I like it being tube fed also, clips are always in the way. Mine is very accurate to.

CZ 452 Varmint here with a Sightron Big Sky scope and Talley rings. Accurate as all get out. It likes everything I feed it but mainly use CCI or Hornaday.

Ruger 77/22 mag. We like the Federal 50 gr hollow points for fox and coyote. We have a couple places we hunt that is shotgun and rimfire only. The 22 mag has performed well on the fox and coyotes we've taken with it.
