I feel we would draw the same numbers for a wqe as other clubs do far away would just give other people here with familys who can't get away to a 5 hr away qualifier a chance to qualify and go to the world. Some people can't go that far all the time to try to qualify one.

My feeling is if a dog places in a ukc license event it should be qualified for the world in which ever format the dog places in just my opinion I know ukc would lose money off theese qualifiers but they would gain alot more dogs at the world

Us northeastern folks are certainly outa the loop being there isn't a wqe anywhere with in resonable distance. ( 6 or 7 hour) I cant go that far on a maybe. I wouldn't mind at all traveling that far, even 12 hours or 24 hours for a world hunt. No sweat sign me up!! But to go that far on just a chance at going to the world seems not as likely with work and the cost of fuel these days. It would be nice to see a wqe a couple hours away next year! so many good hounds are getting over looked cause they don't even have the chance. And believe me if one of my hounds would ever qualify I'd be there. Thanks

UKC should give every state a WQE. Give the bigger states 2 or 3. Whats the big deal. At least everyone can say they had an oppurtunity.

WQE

I agree with you guys for me theres the clubs i go to some of them don`t even hold WQE why i have know idea there are very few clubs in Mo. that have WQE and like someone said on here that there is alot of great dogs getting over look i know theres is dogs out of Ark. and Mo. that are . And why go to a WQE Just so some average joe that not even planing going to the World Hunt in the 1st place wins a WQE and knock someone out that wants to go to me UKC needs to look at this and ways to fixs it . Thanks Jimmy Leach

Make this Happen!! I would like very much to get some dogs Qualified and not have to drive 6 to 8 hrs. to do it! Most other states get to qualify thier dog's in thier own back yards why the heck can't We???? Put some Back In PA also!!!!!
I know we would draw the same if not more #'s some clubs only had 10 to 12 dogs show up!! Check the magazines!! How are you gonna leave states out of this? Total BS!

Just don't see what it would hurt to say a dog that wins a ukc license trial is qualified for the world many dogs who do qualify don't end up going anyways and it takes spots away from people who want to So I say spread them around better or if a dog wins a license trial your in

I was told sometime ago it's all about #'S. How many dogs do you draw to your regular hunts? 15, 20 ? . 20 dogs is 5 casts, not enough to warrant a qualifier. 50 dogs and up is more like it. The last couple of years UKC has moved qualifiers around. Clubs that had low turnouts lost their qualifiers. Attended a qualifier early this year, they had 15 dogs show up. 4 casts. Wonder if UKC will give them one next year? Years past this same club would send 7 to 10 casts to the field. UKC allows 10 dogs to qualify at these events, meaning only highest plus point cast winner move on to the world. We attented the world hunt for the last 4 years usually with 3 or 4 entries, this year we are sitting it out. We attended only one qualifier getting only one qualified. Couldn't justify the expence to Tenn with only one.
Would love to see some qualifiers in this part of the country instead of traveling hours on the road to attend one. Put these hunts in areas that have a good rabbit population though. Nothing worse than traveling hours to a hunt and can't find a rabbit to run.
Another question to ask yourself, do you have enough running grounds (spots) for 10+ casts to go to the field @ one time, and guides to take them there and back?

Steve I would say between our club and yours all our ground combined we could put 2 on at one time and u gotta agree we both got some serious running grounds I do understand the number part but so many back woods dogs don't get noticed due to all the travel that's required to qualify.I mean let's face it gas ain't getting no cheaper, and paychecks don't seem to be getting any larger

I'm with midvalleybeagle, if a dog places in a UKC trial in that year they should qualify for the world hunt or atleast a top 3 finish. I dont believe its a numbers game as they are only hurting the inegrity of the World Hunt if only a handfull of dogs go. The whole idea is to get the best dog crowned, not the person the has the most time and money to travel. For us in N.Y the closes wqe is now over 6 hrs away, then if you qualify, the world hunt is 970 miles away. There is no reason ukc cannot award a wqe to any club wanting one, other then the price of the trophies,. This would allow every person an even shot at qualifing a dog. And this is what the world hunt should be about every dog having a equal shot at winning.

Hey man you have got a great point . I like the idea if your dog place in the top 5 it qualify . I went to a ARHA ( little pack ) event had two dogs win there cast and place in the top 5 and they qualify for the little pack world hunt that should make everything fair . Thanks Jimmy Leach

wqe

I couldn't agree more Darein. Give any club that wants one a WQE. Do away with the oak trophys and give out certificates or something less expensive. The idea of a dog going to the World by placing in a UKC hunt is also a good one. Jack Eddy
