Remedy for hoarse Dog

Does anyone know anything I can give to a young dog that has become very hoarse sounding bark. She is young and had a really nice mouth but is starting to loose it a little. Any help would be appreciated.

Dont know any medical reasoning behind it, but a teaspoon, of honey or a honey sandwhich (1 piece of bread folded over) once or twice a day for a couple weeks will do it, dad has always done this.
