been shooting shotguns since my first deer season over 28 years ago. you dont, i repeat, you dont need a rifled slug barrel for a shot gun. considering the rifling in the barrel and on the slug, does you no good. not much spin on the ball. too many slingers for the weight.
anyways, i have always used a mossberg and i swear by them. no offense, a 3" group at 100yds. is alright. i want a group that punches paper out when they touch at 100.
shooting 2 3/4 factory rems. out of a mossberg, i can efficiently, and i use that word seriously, shoot a pattern that can make anyone shut up at 100 yards. WITHOUT A RIFLED BARREL. the longer the barrel on that one, the more accurate. try it guys. i learned that years ago. saw my dad buy all the fancy dancy and such for a shotgun, even the sabot slugs, good lord he spent a fortune trying to out do me and the old mossberg he bought for me years ago.
he learned a lesson. more is less, more spent and less gotten is a lesson in its self.
