He must have gone to sleep and since I cannot read his mind I can only take a guess. I'm guessing he was wondering if you shot him straight about buying half interest in the dog, but I may well be wrong. You said you "Covered all the holes" So I, myself , would not wonder about that.
I like my dogs and I breed what I got because I like what I got. I make sure I control the breeding part. I sell half pretty regular. I make sure my half will be in my pen when the Gators go in or he won't be leaving here to start with. Some want to Comp hunt, some live in places they can hunt in summer and not worry about Gators and help finnish one out, some are just chinchy and I will probably sell them a dog that does what they say they want and I'll be negotiable on the price. There is no guarantee after that. You paid as little as you could , that is your dog now so stick him up your a -- and I don't want to hear any yow yowing whichever way you can make him turn out. Needless to say, if you think you made a deal on what I consider thousands dollar dog for three or four hundred and you get the whole dog, it is only because I know I have someting better that is all mine. I don't mind all the trial you want right here, and when you get a dog from me all yours for 1/4 price, my guarantee to you is "I'll call you a crybaby" . If you made that decision to buy him, he's yours. If you made the decision to buy half, he's ours. Maybe I can straighten him out.
Believe it it or not, I place dogs in competent hands this way. I do cull heavey on that few though.
