I use 2 types

"Fish Tapes" Forte for Tape Worms

http://www.revivalanimal.com/store/...Fish-Tapes.aspx

"Safe Guard Goat Wormer" for All other Worms ..

These are the Best for the $$$$$$$

I'am worming 40 Hounds and Pups so the Worming Program Has to work the Best and Be the least Costly

We take the Fleas down to Nill with Permethrin .. So Worming for Tapes is reduced to about every 6 months all the Worming is Bi-Monthly with the Safe Guard Livestock/Goat and we buy it by the 1000 ml bottle ...

Wormer

I have good luck with Dontral Plus, I think it kills every kind of worm.

I use Ivomec for heartworm preventive.

Zimecterin Gold doesn't have enough praziquantel to Control Tapes in Dogs ,,

It requires about 170mg of praziquantel to worm a 60# dog ..

Ivermectin is Cheeper to buy in the Veil of 1% "Swine/Beef"

Ivermectin DOES NOT prevent/kill Hook/Roundworms

"Other Parasites Covered

Ivermectin at the heartworm preventive dose is not strong enough to kill common intestinal parasites. Because of this fact, the dewormer pyrantel pamoate was added to cover hookworms and roundworms in the original Heartgard product. As other ivermectin-based products have entered the market, these have also added pyrantel pamoate to extend the spectrum of protection.

Whipworms are not covered by any of the ivermectin-containing products at this time, but in order to remain competitive in the market, manufacturers may pay for treatment for whipworm infections acquired while their product is administered. The products containing both ivermectin and pyrantel pamoate are Heartgard Plus®, Iverhart Plus®, and Tri-Heart Plus®. Iverhart Max® includes both pyrantel pamoate and praziquantel so as to cover tapeworms as well.

http://heartgard.us.merial.com/prod...oducts_plus.asp

(Ifl you notice, Heartgard Plus contains both Ivermectin and Pyrantel.)

http://www.peteducation.com/article...p;articleid=743

(This website has the ingredients listed in it. If the prevention only has Ivermectin in it, nothing but heartworms are covered. Only if it has pyrantel in it does it claim to get rid of hooks and rounds)

***********

As a side note, Heartgard is a post-prevention(not sure what the correct term is.). In other words, it works AFTER your dog has been bitten by an infested mesquito(Sp). The "preventatives" prevent adult heartworms by killing immature heartworms

There is also a phenomenon called the “Reach back effect.” This means that if a dog goes off heartworm preventive medication for a prolonged period (four months was the time tested), re-starting ivermectin could still prevent adult heartworms from developing in the heart.

Ivermectin at the heartworm preventive dose is not strong enough to kill common intestinal parasites but it is available with pyrantel pamoate included (Heartgard30 PLUS) to control hookworms and roundworms.

This is true, BUT, they are talking about the dose of Ivermectin that is in Heartgard and other similar products. Using the liquid Ivomec at 1cc/110 pounds is NOT the heartworm preventative dose - this dosage DOES get common intestinal parasites. For heartworm prevention only, you can give 1/10 of this amount, or .1 cc /110 pounds....

I've used Goat wormer liquid by Safeguard. I go by weight on bottle, but I give it over 6 concecutive days. I mix it in food. I'ts the same medicine in the granule packets given over 3 days. It gets tapes, rounds, hooks and whips. If that is the 4 most common. I've had good luck with it.
1 ml same as 1 cc

Drontal Plus is the way to go. One dose - One time. None of this 3 day in a row stuff, plus it gets ALL intestinal worms. It is a little pricey if you have your vet do it. You can order the generic equivalent from Eisenhut dog supply called "PPO" wormer. Its one pill per 22lb weight from them. I dont use anything else !!!

Here is a link:

We Treat (Spray the Area/yard, Plus a Mixture of 1/3 Permethrin X 2/3 Glycerin placed at the Nap of the Neck on all the "Cats and Dogs" 1-2 cc) Everything with Permethrin..

Also One More Time on the "Proper Dosage Of Safeguard Goat Wormer"

"fenbendazole"

And This Will Not kill Tape Worms in Dogs

SafeGuard 10% Liquid or Liquid Panacur 10% Dosages

The Actual Dosage is 4.4 cc per 10#s in a Single Dose .. Of Liquid SafeGuard

(1 Kg = 2.2#s)

Dosage and administration Routine treatment of adult dogs and cats 1 ml Panacur 10% Liquid per 1 kg bodyweight as a single oral dose (= 100 mg fenbendazole/kg
bodyweight). Practical dosage recommendations: 2 to 4 kg 4 ml 4 to 8 kg 8 ml 8 to 16 kg 16 ml 16 to 24 kg 24 ml 24 to 32 kg 32 ml 32 to 64 kg 64 ml For dogs
weighing over 64 kg, an extra 10 ml are required for each additional 10 kg
bodyweight. The dose should be mixed into feed, or administered by mouth directly
after feeding. Treatment should be repeated when natural reinfection with parasitic
worms occurs. Routine treatment of adult animals with minimal exposure to
infection is advisable 2 to 4 times per year. More frequent treatment at 6 to 8
weekly intervals is advisable for dogs in kennels.

I just weighed one of our 6-1/2 week old pup and He weighs 11.5#s

So 11.5 devided X 2.2 = 5.23 Kg X .50 cc = 2.61 cc of liquid Safegurd over a 3 days

Puppies and kittens under 6
months of age 0.5 ml Panacur 10% Liquid per kg bodyweight daily for 3
consecutive days given by mouth directly after feeding to unweaned animals or
mixed with food for weaned animals (= 50 mg fenbendazole/kg bodyweight daily
for 3 days). Practical dosage recommendations: Up to 1 kg 0.5 ml daily for 3 days 1
to 2 kg 1 ml daily for 3 days 2 to 4 kg 2 ml daily for 3 days 4 to 6 kg 3 ml daily for
3 days 6 to 8 kg 4 ml daily for 3 days 8 to 10 kg 5 ml daily for 3 days For puppies
weighing over 10 kg, an extra 0.5 ml is required daily for each additional kg
bodyweight. Puppies should be treated at 2 weeks of age, 5 weeks of age and again
before leaving the breeder's premises. Treatment may also be required at 8 and 12
weeks of age. Thereafter, frequency of treatment can be reduced unless the pups
remain in kennels where reinfection occurs more readily.

Pregnant bitches 1 ml
Panacur 10% Liquid per 4 kg bodyweight daily from day 40 of pregnancy
continuously to 2 days post-whelping (approximately 25 days) (= 25 mg
fenbendazole/kg bodyweight daily). Practical dosage recommendations: 4 kg 1 ml
daily for approx. 25 days 8 kg 2 ml daily for approx. 25 days 12 kg 3 ml daily for
approx. 25 days 20 kg 5 ml daily for approx. 25 days 40 kg 10 ml daily for approx.
25 days For bitches weighing over 40 kg, an extra 1 ml is required daily for each
additional 4 kg bodyweight. As treatment of pregnant bitches is 98% effective,
puppies from these bitches should themselves be treated with a three day course at
2 and 5 weeks of age.

Pregnant queens Pregnant queens can be safely treated with
Panacur but only require a single treatment at the routine adult dose rate.
Administer 1 ml Panacur 10% Liquid per 1 kg bodyweight as a single dose (=100
mg fenbendazole/kg bodyweight).

Increased dosing for specific infections For the
treatment of clinical worm infestations in adult dogs and cats or Giardia spp.
infections in dogs administer 1 ml Panacur 10% Liquid per 2 kg bodyweight daily
for 3 consecutive days (= 50 mg fenbendazole/kg bodyweight daily for 3 days). For
the control of lungworm Oslerus (Filaroides) osleri in dogs administer 1 ml Panacur
10% Liquid per 2 kg bodyweight for 7 consecutive days (= 50 mg fenbendazole/kg
bodyweight daily for 7 days). A repeat course of treatment may be required in
some cases. For the control of lungworm Aelurostrongylus abstrusus in cats
administer 1 ml Panacur 10% Liquid per 2 kg bodyweight for 3 consecutive days (=
50 mg fenbendazole/kg bodyweight daily for 3 days).
