i showed my pup a cage coon at 2 months and he showed interest but i started draging tails and hides for the pup at 7 weeks and let him run loose till he was 3 months. I wouldnt show but 2 or 3 cage coons and once your pup will run a drag start carrying him to the woods and cut a coon loose and dont let your pup see it run off. He should run it and tree it if not wait a week and try again. Once he starts running and treeing cutloose coons (that he doesnt see) continue turning loose about 2 a week for him, when he trees them shoot them out (dead not wounded) After a good month of this start carrying him and make him work for his on track, (no cutloose). You want to use easy cutloose coons so you dont burn the puppy out working a hard track, he will lose interest fast if he has to work to hard for it. I have a 5 month old that will run and tree a wild coon now. But this time of year its hot and dry you can burn a pup out fast. 2 times a week is Plenty. Shoot as many coons out to your pup as you can while hes young, this is important.
