pup raised with a fawn?

i have a baby deer that comes and goes as he pleases around the house. i also have a 3mo old bluetick pup that does interact with the fawn when he comes around. he has never even barked at the fawn. does anyone have any thoughts about how this will affect his tendencies to run deer when he is older? should i get rid of the fawn? or could this be a good thing?

He should get used to them and not run them.

We had goats when my dogs were pups---a guy told me that would keep them from runnin' deer. Must have been right 'cause still today they won't run one. If he starts to run one just call him off---put some coon to him and you'll be just fine.

Deer...

My buddy had a dog that ran possums. So we cought one & left it in the live trap. Then we put it in the back of the dog house & made that dog live with it for a few weeks. That Dog went from being the best darn possum dog this side of the mississippi to never running a grinner again. So I gess if you hang out all the time thare's no drive or resson to run it...

I think it is a good thing. Some years ago I raised a deer in the pen with my coon hounds. They never ran deer.

I sure don't think it hurts... I have 2 goats that interact with my dogs all the time. I have never had an issue with them running Deer......I also have a few barn cats that like to sleep near and around the dogs. Pretty sure I dont have to worry about em load'n up on a cat in a hunt either.......Jon

This is my experience:I have deer in a pen, including a large buck.My dogs see these deer everyday and have even been in the same pen with them. Most of my deer will not run from a dog and the buck will dang sure make a dog sorry if he tries.
Now this has not stopped all my dogs from running deer. They won't run the penned deer but they will run wild deer.
I also have caged coons,1/2 of my dogs will not even look at a coon in a cage but turn them loose and it's a whole different story.
I have a Dachshund that will not bother any of our barn cats but the neighbor's cats better give the place a wide birth.
I think dogs are a little smarter than we give them credit for(at least some dogs...lol)they seem to know what belongs on their property and when we take them hunting they seem to know that they are supposed to chase game.
